Get rid of official parties. Likeminded individuals can certainly gather up and form political groups. But do away with this nonsense of one republican and one democrat can run for office. 
Get rid of private donations to campaign funds.  Oil company X can no longer donate to George WhatamItalkingaboutIdon'tknow Bush, but only to the presidential ( Read more... )

It's funny but I have brought up a very similar idea. Problem is that it allows those who don't have money to run, and allow the balance of power to shift. This is something neither of the parties want, therefore it will never happen. It will take a revolution for this country to change now. Should that ever happen our country will be attacked when it's weak by the very many people that hate us.

True enough. I'm not niave enough to think that it WILL happen. The people in power would absolutely never allow it, and I'm sure anybody who was making big enough waves to be heard and have a prayer of making a difference would meet an untimely end.

we're totally going to fall like rome, too; ugly and with a resounding crash. no way can we just fade into quiet, smarter-than-you-but-so-much-for-colonization retirement like britain.
