Came in second in the second game of poker last night.
Big Chris had been making rediculous bets just to bully people around, he probably had about 5k in chips (up from 3k) in less then ten hands. Bluffing is part of the game. That's why I don't play poker. I can't bluff to save my ass.

We used to play years ago; long before Texas Hold 'em became popular. If I raised twice during a hand of 7 card stud; everyone would drop out because they knew I didn't bluff. I could never win a decent pot.

Yeah but if you bluff at a pot and some reraises you, the jig is up when you have that weak of a hand. You don't get into a reraise war when you KNOW you have the weakest hand.

In Hold 'Em it's a little different because you can go all in.

In regular poker; if you can't cover the bet; you have to fold. I've seen someone with a jack high nothing win against a straight flush because they raised until the other person couldn't cover it.

Also, you're not playing to win a buy-in amount. You're playing for whatever's in the pot. I think having a pile of cash in the center of the table changes the psychology of the game a little.
