I don't think I like the term Sexual Identity, though I couldn't say why.

It's the most commonly accepted term to avoid insulting members of the GLBT community.

I find that some PC is inane, but some is good for not out-right insulting someone. I don't think I'm being pverly PC if I won't use the N word to describe someone who is black. I don't mind using a handy catch-phrase like Sexual Identity to identify people who might be women who want to sleep with women, or men who want to sleep with women, or women who feel they should have been men, or men who want to actually change gender to female but date women, or women who feel they should be male but don't want to change their gender but still date men, or men who want to dress as women... the list is quite honestly huge. It's way easier to have a single phrase that covers everything and doesn't offend most people.

We used to call it your sexual orientation; but those were simpler, more innocent times. The 80's.

I think being non-offensive and being PC are two different things. PC is when you take being non-offensive to offensive levels.
