Ok, today my amount of niceness was already stretched thin by 8:45am. First off I wok up late so I was a little pissed at myself. I think it's good to have a common interest with your SO (significant other for those of you who don't recognize the abbreviation right away). I think it's even better because you sparked an interest for her, and learning it together gives your relationship a unique characteristic. You need to start worrying when she tries to pick up on everything you do...then it just kinda seems nosy. As for the costume problem...well, just let her know how you feel, that's the most you can do. Or even better, jack the shit out of the guys stealin the looks, heh.
