My August Reads
The Diamond of Drury Lane - Julia Golding
A kids' book. It looked cute, but wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be. That said, it is a cute adventure story that I would have no trouble recommending to a young girl looking for something different.
Persuasion - Jane Austen
Something about Jane Austen never quite sucks me in the way it apparently does for some, but it was good. I don't have much to say about it.
The Hunchback of Notre-Dame - Victor Hugo
Much better read than Les Misérables. Less tangential rambling and more story, with really compelling characters and situations. Very depressing, though.
