The Charterhouse of Parma - Stendhal - So very disappointing. I loved his Scarlet and Black so much, and was really looking forward to reading more of his work, but this book just did not pull me in at all. So disappointing.
Shelf Monkey - Corey Redekop - Odd little book. Definitely worth reading if you work/have worked in a bookstore, and probably even if you haven't. If you're ever annoyed by certain stupid books and the people who read them, you will find something to sympathize with in this book. Although it gets a little crazy at the end, and is definitely more intense than I expected. Generally a good read, though. Oh, and Corey, if you google yourself and find this one of mine too, I have to ask: were your Munroe Purvis books at all inspired by the Jodie Picoult oeuvre?
Twilight - Stephenie Meyer - Oh my lord. I wish I could say that, having read it, I now understand why so many people are so enamoured with this book and its sequels. I can't, though. It was basically dreadful in all ways that a book can be dreadful. The last 100 pages weren't as bad, but on the whole? Ugh. I'll probably keep reading the series anyway, though.
All the World's Mornings - Pascal Quignard - Strange little book. I didn't really get it.
Word Nerd - Susin Nielsen - Cute book about a 12-year-old nerd. It suddenly occurs to me that this would have been a good recommendation for a particular customer I had today. Anyway, definitely on the recommendation list for boys looking for books.
