Essex Boys is... bizarre. And way too long. And honestly, kind of awkward to watch. But Alex is amazing in it; it's a really different role from say, Corday or River. I think it's worth watching from a hard-core fan POV, but the film itself is kind of...blech ( ... )

Oh, thanks for the rec's. I am definitely going to check out Hope Springs and Marchlands. FWIW, I saw the beginning of The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover on vid back in the 80s--freaked me out. Not only could I not finish the film--I had to give my brain a very thorough scrubbing. If Dame Helen can't make me watch it, I am not planning on exposing myself to another viewing for ten seconds of Alex. :(

YAY! Those two are the best so far, imo. And she's the mainish character in Hope Springs, so. LOTS OF SCREENTIME :D

I've also heard Moll Flanders is really good, but I couldn't watch it tbh; I tried, but it's just too strange for me. I'm going to listen to the audiobook first so I know what to expect, lol.

The Cook etc. was just traumatizing, lol. DO NOT WANT. I'm also vegan, so it was particularly horrendous for me to watch; I pretty much wanted to puke the whole time. :/

Also you should check out gidget_zb's uploads on tumblr. That's where I get most of my Alex stuff from. Her tag is HERE.
