Arthur/Merlin

I want to see Merlin snap, where he doesn't feel like dealing with anything anymore - Arthur's mood swings, his destiny, being an unrecognized servant... He finally breaks and storms off. Arthur panics. He must work his ass off to win Merlin back.

this isn't exactly what the OP asked for, I think, but hopefully it will do anyway?There was just so many times someone could take a blunt object thrown at one's head before the had well enough. And Merlin, breathing out slowly through his nose, has had enough ( ... )

"Damn sturdy door," Arthur mutters, rubbing his shoulder. "I'll be back for you later! Get the guards to come take this door down and drag you to the dungeons for disobeying me!"

"Go on then!"

"Don't think I won't," Arthur says, kicking at the door one last time before leaving.

Arthur's back not an hour later.

"Merlin, you have one last chance. Come out now and help me get ready for bed and we'll forget this nonsense."

"Brought the guards, have you?" Merlin says from just on the other side of the door.

Arthur humphs then slumps down to sit with his back to the door. "You knew I wouldn't, really."

"I did, yes."

"This is ridiculous. Why won't you come out?"

"Because I'm tired, Arthur."

"How can you be tired? You don't do anything ( ... )

He sets down the light and starts to pick up the scattered clothes, folding them over his arm.

"Merlin."

Merlin starts, turning to look at where Arthur is watching him with half-lidded eyes. "You're awake."

"Come to your senses, have you?" Arthur's voice is low and rough from sleep.

Merlin lays the clothes on a nearby chair and walks closer. "Well, whether I like it or not, you can't do without me," he says softly. "So I guess I will just have to grin and bear itArthur sighs heavily and throws off the blankets so he can get up, but Merlin gets there before his feet can touch the floor and flicks the blankets back up ( ... )

THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN THE ACTUAL SHOW RIGHT NOW. EXACTLY LIKE THIS.
Your characterisation and their voices are absolutely perfect, they really are, and it's so, so nice to see Merlin stand up for himself and Arthur acknowledge that he's justified in doing so. &hearts

That's incredible! I could actually see it happening, the characters were spot on. You did the whole thing amazingly well. Short and precise. Great job, anon!

I've been craving fic where they somehow deal with the whole "Arthur throwing things at Merlin head"-thing (never mind all the other pressure Merlin is under), and this is perfect, completely believable and IC.

I really liked that Merlin had finally had enough. Arthur needs to stop throwing things at Merlin or else he might lose him all together. Well done.

Wonderful! Merlin needs to stand up for himself, and Arthur needs to grow up a bit.

YES. YES, THIS. This is how it should happen on the show. Seriously. I really wince every time that Arthur throws something at Merlin but this fic has gone a long way to ... I dont know, give me hope I suppose. I can really see this happening in the show and now I really want it to happen. I want Arthur to realise that he's been a right idiot and to admit to it and apologise to Merlin.
