The silk around his wrists is wine red. Arthur says it’s because he likes the way it looks against Merlin’s pale skin, but Merlin knows it’s really some manner of possessiveness, that Arthur likes to drape Merlin in Pendragon red like he’s conquered him somehow, like he’s staking his claim. Merlin doesn’t mind. It might be that he’s the one tied to Arthur’s enormous bed, but he’s still the one with all the power. He’s the one making Arthur shake apart above him, the one making him shake and moan as Merlin shoves his tongue so far into Arthur’s arse that his face hurts from the strain of it.

His neck hurts and his jaw hurts and his dick aches, but it’s worth it because Arthur is a disaster and Merlin did that. Those are his bite marks on the back of Arthur’s neck, and the hot flush all over Arthur’s skin is his too; he earned it. On either side of Merlin’s chest, Arthur’s legs are shaking with the strain of holding himself up, and the sweat that drips off of Arthur’s forehead lands on Merlin’s stomach, mixes with his own and pools
