Sometimes I feel like the only fan who still remembers who John used to be, before the writers were given a blank check to make him as horrible as possible and tug our heartstrings for little Dean and baby Sammy to the breaking point. I'm not sure I even believe Kripke meant for John to be demonized to this degree. It was so reassuring to hear how JDM handled that fan at that convention, to know I wasn't crazy for believing there was more to John than that.

I guess John has always been a very divisive subject in the fandom, I can't blame anyone for insisting he left a bad taste in their mouths. But I think (or at least hope) this episode settled for many of us that John was far from perfect, but he wasn't pure evil, either.
