Your step dad sucks! What does your mom have to say about him trying to push you out. It's not like you are being lazy your working. The economy is bad and we are all struggling to hang on waiting for it to get better. I still live at home, I can't afford to live on my own. My dad pays most of the bills. If I wasn't living here I would be homeless too. Also, I'm thinking if you had somewhere else to go you would be elsewhere because who needs to put up with abuse 24/7. He can't legally throw you out, just make your life a living hell. Hold on and stay until you can get out without becoming homeless. Hang on at the PO because Christmas is coming and they may give you more than one day a week. They may have more hours at another PO too.
