I'm now kicking myself because they had several copies of a big hardback edition of the Divine Comedy in The Works (publishers' outlet shop), with Gustave Dore illustrations too. I meant to buy it, as I've been wanting to read it for a while, but it kept slipping my mind until it was too late. :( I guess it didn't help that it was approaching Christmas and I was too busy thinking of presents for other people. :x
Was it blue? I almost ended up settling for that edition when it started to look bleak, but I managed to track one down for less than $100, so I pounced on it immediately. :)

His introductions alone make it worthwhile, since he lays out the events of each canto in plain english before getting to the verse itself.
