So the first lady (and I use that term very loosely) goes and visit's this fucking school where she talks to the kids. One girl asks about Arizona's law then goes to state: MY MOM DOES NOT HAVE PAPERS. Which makes them illegal and yet they won't ask the girl or go to her parents because she said it in school.

That's where the laws get sticky(putting aside the school thing for now).

Assume, for the sake of argument, that child was born here, and it's only her mom that's illegal(I know, just assume please).

The way the deportation laws are written, the mom goes back and the kid stays here.

Well, with no legal guardian to go to, she becomes a ward of the state... thus costing the government more money than if they'd just left the mother alone, because by the time the mom is eligible to even BEGIN the legal immigration(10 years later) is she can afford it and if someone petitions for her, the child will be grown.

It's one of those nasty little catch 22s that officials won't talk about but is one of several major reasons the enforcement is so lax. Those families are full of natural born citizens that turn the whole deportation thing into one big money sink above and beyond just the cost of getting them back where they came from.

I know it just sickens me that they just let them get away with it though. I understand that little catch 22, but what I don't like is they won't look into it. If the kid was born here then fine they stay, if not then make them all leave. It's as simple as that.
