1. The smell of blood triggers a very distinct memory: The original man named Kino (this Kino's friend), collapsed on the ground in a pool of blood, her parents both excitedly pulling out their butcher knife so that they can kill her next for being a disobedient daughter.
(The man intercepted the knife meant for her- and the girl watched him die as people cheered. She and Hermes escaped. From that point on her name was 'Kino', and she does not acknowledge (and tries not to remember) her family, though blood always brings the memory to the forefront of her mind.)
2. Kino has killed people. She will always kill to survive, because her life is more important than other people. She doesn't like killing: it's scary and stressful and she's very afraid of dying herself; she will however always protect herself. If you're a threat but not likely to overpower her (or you give her time to think), she'll aim for arms or legs, or to hit a treebranch over your head to fall on you and knock you out. If you surprise her, or outnumber her, she'll kill you outright. If you put her in a bad situation she will examine the best outcome and then probably kill you.
3. Kino will occasionally choose to act instead of observe, but there must be a very distinct reason for her to do things to help others that does not help herself or fall into the 'friendship' ideal. She was once trapped in a roman coliseum style 'game' where she was told she had to kill to survive. She lasted through the entire 'game' and 6 highly skilled opponents without killing anyone (she defeated them and convinced them all to surrender) all so that she could kill the 'king' of the country. She blew off his head. One could also read this as 'piss her off and she'll mess you up' but you have to be really nasty to have that happen.
4. Kino doesn't collect 'things'. She has no material goods in her room (It's plain, white, and completely undecorated. She has Hermes against one wall, and her travel bags next to him, still unpacked. There is clothing hanging in the closet, and that's it.) She doesn't want things because she can't travel with things that aren't necessary. The things she owns are the things she uses every day: Her guns, her helmet, her goggles, her jacket.
5. Kino is very innocent. She understands in the most basic way the 'birds and the bees', but she has no idea how relationships really work, what sex is beyond a thing between married people and how babies are made, anything involving how interpersonal relationships work. She completely believes that Sam and Mikaela are getting married, because they're boyfriend and girlfriend. Her mental maturity in these matters is of a uneducated 12 year old (from 50 years ago).
6. Kino is asexual, in that she doesn't consider herself a 'girl' particularly, and thinks of herself as a boy when a gender pronoun is needed. Part of this comes from the fact that the original Kino was a man, part of it comes from the fact that there are many predators on the road and being a girl is dangerous. She's had to fight off would-be rapists and slavers more than once. Re: point 3, in the people she's killed. She's such a skilled marksman because she was trained to be able to defend herself, and trains every day to stay in practice.
7. Kino doesn't do touch. She is not tactile, and her body will react to touch by attacking before she's even really made a judgment call. She is not comfortable with hugs, pats, or anything beyond a handshake- and even then she'll rather bow. She has no memory of being coddled or comforted as a child, though she's seen it from other countries and people. Throw an arm around this girl and you'll be thrown into a wall. Well, at least thrown. She's not that strong.
8. Kino is very guilty about the riots, because people got hurt that she could have helped avoid, somewhat. She was very angry at Magnum, but realized at least in part that she's angry at herself for not knowing: she'd still make the same decision again. Chromia? You're going to get the full scoop on Ironhide helping out the bad guys. Something to hold over his head, yes? XD
9. Kino thinks of 'friends' as 'people who are useful to you that you are useful to in return', which means she considers most people she's met 'friends' She's used to very impermanent relationships, since she rarely ever sees people for more than 3 days, and then never again. Friends are matters of convenience, more like 'allies', rather than any deeper social meaning or impact. She would not hesitate to sacrifice anyone if it guaranteed her trip home, or her continued safety. She'd feel bad about the loss of life, but she wouldn't feel that she'd betrayed anything: she thinks this is how everyone else acts/thinks as well.
10. Kino thinks the Autobots are a group of near-religious extremists who are a bad combination of silly and stupid. She has yet to have any interaction that painted them well, though she's had a pleasant conversation (or two). The Decepticon's in comparison have been gracious, intelligent, and fully capable of admitting their own flaws and the facts that caused them to be split from the Autobots. Decepticons have spoken to her well, and are capable of acknowledging that not all Autobots are the same sort of people with the same reasoning, something no Autobot has managed yet to do.
In short, if the need to choose sides ever arose, Kino would side with the 'Cons, every time.
