"that mountain for example, that big glorious mountain. for one transitory moment, i think i may have actually saw it. I saw it without thinking of logging and ski resorts and avalanches , managed wildlife, plate tectonic geology, microclimates, rain shadow, or ying-yang locations. i saw it without the framework of language. without the cage of associations. i saw it without looking through the lens of everything i knew true about mountains. what i saw in that flash wasnt a "mountain". it wasnt a natural resource. it had no name. thats the big goal. to find a cure for knowledge. for education. for living in our heads. the cerebral cortex, the cerebellum, thats where the problem is. if we could just get down to using only the brain stem, cured. this would be somewhere beyond happiness and sadness. my goal is to uncomplicate myself. every addiction is just a way to treat this problem: sex, drugs, alcohol, games....to escape what we know. our education. our bite of the apple. language was just our way to explain the wonder and the glory ( ... )
