romance, n: an exciting and mysterious quality

... as in the feeling one gets when passing the back-alley door to the Chinese restaurant, where small dogs occasionally disappear with a quick yelp. What is kung pao chicken, anyway?

Good answers, both of them.

It's just one of those words that gets used so often, and I'm not entirely certain I know what it's supposed to actually mean, as it were.

Although personally I would have used 'mu' instead of 'wu', but it's all the same really.

Personally I like the older version of the word. The mysterious quality one, like how a story of a haunted wood is romantic. How I think love got attached was that love is very mysterious.

Now days people think romance means candle lit dinners. Well I guess that could be romantic in the old sense if you left with your house locked and come back to find it waiting for you.
