Many of them will do it because they believe that way it won't suddenly be resurrected at an embarassing moment and then used against them in some way. Others are just flouncing after some spot of drama.

Hmmm, I suppose it helps that I don't say anything here I would not tell you in person in public.

That's a pretty good defense against needing to delete a journal or remove objectionable content.

Hmm, I suppose. It's just frustrating when I come across an old entry of a friend's where they're gushing about some fic or art or how awesome such'n'such a post is or why you should go see all the awesome stuff that so'n'so created...and it's not there anymore. >\

Hell, I think it is odd when people delete their normal LJ's. Even people who have died have not. (That is odd in it's own way)

I will admit that the first thought in my head way 'how are they supposed to delete it if they're dead?' XD ^^;;;

But yes, I understand what you mean. I mean...even if I decided I didn't want to share it with anyone anymore, this is still a mark of my passage through life. It's interesting to go back to the beginning where I was 16 or so and squealing over sugar cubes. *snickergrin* I like seeing how I've changed and grown, even if 16yo!me makes me want to hit my head against a wall at times. |D And then, of course, there's my lovely, wonderful friends. ♥ Most of you I wouldn't have any contact with anymore except for LJ. :( Like hell I'd give that up. *clings to journal* :3 ♥

Yeah...I'm rather thankful that my earliest writings never found their way off my harddrive (and then my dad reformatted the computer). Then again, even looking back at stuff I wrote a couple years ago makes me cringe. To me, I see it as "I've gotten SO much better at this" instead of "OHGOD, I have to erase any indication that I have ever, at any point in time, sucked quite this badly ( ... )
