Sadly not! I'm still very unsure about the 'where' even though I'm dead set on the 'what' now.
Wrist and back of the neck sound like fun places, but are probably not the best idea professionally. Lower back is sadly out of the question due to it being an area ruined by attention-whores; upper back is probably ideal, but I'd kinda like it where I can see it myself. Hip could work, but I'm reserving that for when I have kids someday - I've always planned to have their names tattooed there. Ankle is seeming like a good idea, but I'm not entirely keen on it. Leg? Arm? Stomach? Chest?
I've wanted one for years but what I want has changed every so often that I've put in place two rules before I get one; 1, I have to want the same thing for a full year before I'll commit to getting it done and 2, it will wait until after I figure out whether or not I'll be joining the military (and if I do join, will have to wait until after I get in).
Sadly, it'll be quite a while before I will safely judge myself as having enough disposable income to get it done. Which covers the length worry, at least. :P
I've always wanted a tattoo, but this was actually the first and only thing that has ever just CLICKED when I thought about it. I knew one day I would like to tattoo my kids' names on my hip (y'know, once I'm a bit older and married, uh, have kids), but I wanted some personal emblem too.
Plus...I have this huge affinity to the Harry Potter series for multiple reasons, starting from when I was about twelve or so (twelve years ago, dear god) - so this isn't a new fandom thing for me. I think I had thought about the lightning bolt before but it didn't click right. I'm also now half-pondering getting a snitch as well, now that another friend mentioned it. :3 ...And maybe even the Zelda tri-force at some point, since I grew up on Zelda and Tetris (though no, I will not be tattooing a Tetris brick on myself). :P
