I totally agree. While I am now married and have one kid, I used to get so annoyed with people assuming I was unhappy being single until I got married. It got worse after I got married, because of course then everyone's asking me about kids and when we are going to have them.
I think that most people are uncomfortable with some one who is happy single or child-free...but I guess that's their issue.
Your probably right. Society is uncomfortable with people who don't fit in to its definitiion if 'normal' and unfortunately, mrrying and having a child is one of them. I decided early on, that I didn't have the personality to raise or keep a child.
I have brothers, and despite the fact that I know they're just kids, when they don;t listen or disrespect me, it takes a great deal of restraint not to hit them or yell. I have a distinctly short temper as well as anger management issues, so I know having kids would be a bad idea. And yet everyone who hears of this advises me that kids would help 'mellow' my temper and that mariage would settle me.
It gets anoying, especially when my friends try to hook me up with someone, even just for fun, because they think I need a man to be happy.
