Saute 1/2 c. quinoa in canola oil. Add 1 c. water, bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 8 minutes. Remove from heat and cool. Combine 2 1/2 c. flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt. In a seperate bowl, cream together 1/2 c. butter, 1 c. sugar, and 3 tablespoons maple syrup.
