Title: Love Disease (or 9 Times Someone in ZE:A Fell in Love With Someone in ZE:A)
Rating: PG
Pairings: SiKwang, KevShik, various others/general ZE:A love
Genre: Comedy
Summary: A strange affliction is circling round the ZE:A house and everyone keeps falling head over heels!
1. Dongjoon
It all starts when Dongjoon wakes up and falls in love with Siwan.
Or rather, Dongjoon wakes up first one morning and goes about his normal routine of waking up his hyungs (which involves elbowing Kevin, flicking Junyoung’s forehead and snatching off Kwanghee’s blankets and running the hell out of there before Kwanghee starts functioning enough to hurt). When Dongjoon gets round to slapping Siwan awake, he feels strange - different than usual. As Dongjoon watches Siwan shuffle upright, hair sticking up in every which way (and what the hell, Dongjoon kind of really wants to touch it and pet it down right now), he feels really light and happy and so so bubbly that he’s itching to run around the house in mad circles like some kind of dog.
For the rest of the day, Dongjoon follows Siwan around like an overgrown puppy; attaching himself to Siwan’s side, sitting on his lap and burying his face into his shoulder. Siwan deems him relatively harmless and lets Dongjoon snuggle to his heart’s content.
(“How can you be so relaxed with him?” Kwanghee prods from the other side of the couch.
“But it’s kind of cute, don’t you think?” Siwan easily replies and lets Dongjoon curl his arms around his waist.
Kwanghee’s whining now, “But you never let me do that!” He punctuates this by jabbing his foot into Siwan’s calf.
Siwan shifts his leg away, “Yeah, but you’re never cute.”
Kwanghee pouts harder.)
Most of the ZE:A members don’t seem to be too concerned, thinking the magnae is probably just playing and it really is quite cute to watch.
Kwanghee tells himself that he’s not jealous. Really, he isn’t. I mean, who cares if stupid Dongjoon has taken a sudden and vested interest in his best friend? As if Kwanghee has anything to worry about. He scoffs. Kwanghee is much better looking than that stupid magnae anyway, really. Dongjoon is so short, and yeah okay, Siwan is short too but Siwan is a nice short, you know? Dongjoon is just short short.
Kwanghee is most definitely not jealous, he thinks as he blends his foundation.
2. Kevin
It is the day after Dongjoon’s strange fixation with Siwan began, and now his behaviour seems to have returned to normal. The members accept it as just a passing phase or prank and Dongjoon breathes a silent sigh of relief that Kwanghee hadn’t taken any drastic measures to protect the so-called ‘virtue of his best friend’ or whatever. Everything seems (moderately) peaceful and back to normal. That is, until Kevin starts showing symptoms of the same temporary insanity Dongjoon went through.
Kevin likes to think that he’s a fairly rational person but what he is unexpectedly feeling for Taehun is borderline crazy. Still, Kevin can’t fight the sudden wave of affection he keeps experiencing and thus spends his free time cooking elaborate meals for Taehun to taste. Taehun can’t say he isn’t somewhat pleased with all the extra delicious food he’s receiving so he happily eats it all.
Kevin’s smile as Taehun compliments his food is near blinding and Hyungshik thinks if it gets any wider it’ll threaten to overcome Kevin’s dumb face. In fact, maybe it will get stuck that way, Hyungshik adds spitefully. That would serve him right for ignoring Hyungshik’s requests for food. Not that Hyungshik is jealous, mind you. It’s just that Hyungshik was hungry too and Taehun really shouldn’t monopolize Kevin’s culinary skills like that. Hyungshik isn’t jealous at all and if Hyungshik happens to kick Taehun in his sleep later that night, well then, it’s simply because Taehun was talking too loudly in his sleep again.
3. Taehun
The third person to get this strange infection is Taehun, who decides to fall in love with Heechul, to which Hyungshik is grateful for. Heechul himself doesn’t actually notice and the two spend the day discussing rap lyrics which Taehun has printed: all of which have a very strong emphasis on being in love with the person right next to you and them not knowing. Futilely, Taehun raps them with a lot of emotion to an oblivious Heechul who questions how someone could possibly be that dense and Minwoo unhelpfully cackles at the irony.
(“Shawty, you know we’re the perfect team“ Taehun raps in his sleep.
“Oh yeah, oh oh oh yeah, I’m feeling good“ Heechul replies groggily.
“You make me tingle tingle” Taehun returns.
Taehun’s infatuation continues loudly throughout the night much to everyone’s chagrin.)
4. Minwoo
The next victim of the disease is Minwoo, whose love manifests itself in the form of overly cute gestures begging the attention of Kwanghee. Kwanghee acts irritated and gruffly slaps Minwoo’s affections away but the younger boy is stubborn (and possibly lacking in self-preservation skills) and takes it in stride, giggling and adorably bumping his head into Kwanghee’s side.
(“This is so damn weird,” comments Hyungshik, leaning against Kevin.
“It’s like watching a role-reversal drama or something” Junyoung adds.
Dongjoon plays with the remote, “Yeah, but at least now Kwanghee must know how Siwan feels.”
“Somehow, I don’t think he’s learnt anything.” says Heechul with a pat to Dongjoon’s head.)
Siwan has nothing to be jealous of and jealousy is an ugly emotion anyway and he is really not jealous in the slightest, Siwan tells his reflection as he straightens his hair. Besides, it’s Kwanghee. Who would get jealous over Kwanghee anyway? Seriously, it’s Kwanghee.
5. Heechul
Just after Taehun stops obsessing over Heechul and Minwoo returns to normal, Heechul falls for Minwoo and the cycle starts again. Minwoo gets teased a bit more than usual and Heechul takes every opportunity to distract him when he’s dancing, which isn’t nearly as irritating to Minwoo as it is to the other members because Minwoo becomes a freaking dance machine when he’s practicing seriously and his focus can’t be shaken.
But Heechul is also sweet in little gestures like handing Minwoo his water bottle when Minwoo can’t find his own and saving him the last kimbap because he knows it is Minwoo’s favourite.
6. Kwanghee
When Kwanghee gets the virus, he fixates on Siwan. No one notices.
7. Hyungshik
The next member to fall hopelessly in love is Hyungshik. Junyoung had expected someone would eventually fall for him next and had been preparing himself for the worst but he need not have bothered. Hyungshik has thoughtfully concluded that Junyoung would like him more if he acted like a Very Good Dongsaeng and subsequently spends the day massaging the leader’s shoulders and not getting into trouble and helping out with household chores. It is a pleasant surprise and Junyoung rewards him with friendly pats on the back and hair ruffles.
Kevin acts like he doesn’t notice anything different. He does, however, make Junyoung’s dinner a little undercooked and gives him the more burnt rice. But that’s just a coincidence. Junyoung wisely says nothing.
8. Junyoung
Likewise, Junyoung had also mentally prepared himself for the possibility that he would be the next member to succumb to the love bug however this does not mean that he can ignore his freshly awakened feelings for the magnae.
Junyoung is not being particularly obvious, but Dongjoon immediately notices and deliberately makes the most of the situation. All it takes is one look at Junyoung’s longing expression and Dongjoon sets about persuading Junyoung to please, hyung, lend me that manhwa? or we’re out of bread, could you go buy some please? or even Junyoungie~ Chocolate?
(“I think this is bordering on exploitation, Dongjoon,” Siwan chides the younger boy.
“But it’s too damn funny. Besides, it’s pretty harmless” Heechul chimes in.
Minwoo pipes up, “Yeah hyung, think of Dongjoon. When will he have the chance to boss Junyoung around again.” Hyungshik sidles up next to Minwoo and adds,
“Yeah, magnaes never get to have any fun.”
“You say that as though Junyoung is some kind of dictator. He never bosses you around.” Siwan refrains from adding that the magnaes do have a lot of fun. Especially when it is at the expense of their hyungs.
Dongjoon takes this moment to shuffle conspiringly towards Siwan, “Are you sure, hyung? Would you change your mind if I made Junyoung buy that shampoo you like?”
It is a tempting offer. “Maybe,” Siwan concedes.)
9. Siwan
Siwan is the very last member to become infected with the affliction and he does not fixate on Kwanghee, much to Kwanghee’s disappointment and Junyoung’s peace of mind. Instead, Siwan ‘subtly’ follows Heechul around (everyone later assures Siwan that he was most certainly not subtle in the slightest) and watches him adoringly.
Heechul finds it amusing and takes full advantage of his effect on Siwan by leaning close into Siwan’s personal space and laughing like a hyena when Siwan get flustered and the tips of his ears turn red. Heechul even occasionally manages to get Siwan so bothered that he trips over nothing.
(Kwanghee asks Junyoung, “Can I hit him now?”
Junyoung sighs, “Not yet, Kwanghee”
“But look! Heechul’s arm is on Siwan’s waist! How can I not hit him?!”
“...”)
Luckily for the ZE:A household, by the time Siwan goes to sleep that night and wakes up the next morning, it seems that whatever ‘magic’ (“It’s a curse! Evil!! What kind of person would want to separate me from my Siwan!” screams Kwanghee) that has befallen the members in the past week or so is thankfully gone. To be sure though, the members gather at the breakfast table and watch to see if anyone acts strangely enamoured with anyone else, but breakfast passes without incident and the peace appears to have been restored (Kwanghee grabs Siwan and glares at anyone who looks at him for too long and Kevin and Hyungshik are sitting pressed up against each others’ sides, but really that’s not any different from any other day).
A/N: lol yup, Kevshik are jealous bastards and Siwan is in denial XD Also I hope the ending wasn’t too abrupt. Comments are love! ♥
