[KinKi Fic] Flash Fiction

Dec 09, 2010 20:19

Been playing with some word-count formats for KinKi fics, very VERY short ones (easy to keep count! xP) though sometimes I cheated by saying more with the titles...

These are meant to be flash fiction, which means they should be complete stories on their own (as opposed to vignettes), but I'm taking it loosely, what with all the fandom general ( Read more... )

Lol. I'm a firm believer in "write when inspiration comes" myself, so can't really tell people to go write, but am hoping sharing these would give some push!

As always too, thanks for reading and commenting! ^_^

In fact, the impetus for my falling in love with Japan in the first place started with haiku --
Wow, that's great! I always admire succinct writing and poetry, though I still have way to go to truly appreciate haiku because of the language barrier. =P The word nuances! Sometimes analyzing Tsuyoshi's cryptic lyrics is challenging enough! xD And that reminds me of that one haiku he composed on the Waratte Iitomo show... *melts*

=O This is the first time I hear of tanka. *goes wiki-ing*

choosing words carefully, sparingly -- allowing there to be vagueness and a lack of clarity, because room for interpretation is amazing.
Interesting! In most of my writings so far I've been more concerned with finding the words that convey exactly the meaning that I want the readers to get. =P But when I encounter pieces that upon rereading make me realize, "Hey, I thought it meant X, but could it actually mean Y?" it's really eye-opening.

I actually really liked the angsty pieces the 24451 and 51244 bits. They were a strange mix of prose and poetry to me, but they had a really strong impact on me. I don't think it would work for an entire fic, but it worked really well for that isolated area.

I agree, it would probably work well for short pieces only. I speculate that the fragmented style is lending to the poetry feel?

In writing the angst pieces I found that I could get words with strong enough connotation for the emotional impact, but to paint the backdrop I couldn't find words rich enough to contain everything I want to imply. =P I was feeling it especially when I only had one word quota left for that 2-4-4-5-1 piece... xD; The challenge was still exciting, though!

This was really interesting to read! I expected short to be really short but I think your experiment was a success because I came away thinking beyond those short lines and wondering more about the past or the future of those little teasers, you've written, especially the angsty ones. :p definitely tempted to try a similar experiment in brevity sometime, but for now I'm giving it a break due to lack of inspiration lately. Thanks for sharing!

Lol yeah, given that my "normal" is some 300+ words, when it's "very short" it would be barely existing! I am getting lazier and lazier to write longer pieces. =X I prefer reading your descriptive fics instead... But I'm glad they end up effective as teasers! =DD

funny you should say that.... because.... I get lazier and lazier to read long fic whereas the fics I want to complete are all old AU WIPs. As long as you keep writing though, I'll have to find the time somewhere to read. :p
