Yeah, you're pretty much stuck with Troi's various non-regulation dresses.

Lt. McGivers didn't actually die until they got to Ceti Alpha V, but I can think of at least one female redshirt who did, on camera - she got reduced to a polyhedron and then crushed into powder.

Yes, but the yellow shirt of TNG is basically the same as the redshirt in TOS. So wearing red in the TNG era is relatively safe, ditto the yellow shirt in the TOS era.

Yes but if you are not sure which era you are in it gets dicey. Boys are lucky, blue shirts for them are relatively safe.
