The couch in the break room of the recording studio wasn’t the most comfortable, but Saga had still managed to get settled on it and had just closed his eyes for a quick nap when Shou entered the room.

“Don’t mind me!” the vocalist said quickly when he saw him there. “I won’t bother you. I’m just going to be reading.” He waved the manga book he had in his hand as though to verify the statement and sat in one of the chairs across from the couch.

Mumbling that it was okay, Saga tried to close his eyes again, but it seemed that sleep eluded him. Just the small disturbance of Shou’s entrance had woken him enough that he was uncomfortable on the couch again. His eyes opened as he shifted onto his side, and he noticed Shou seemed to be staring at him. But as soon as they made eye contact, Shou looked down at his open book again.

Now it was curiosity that kept Saga from sleep. After a few moments, he opened his eyes once more. Just as he thought he would, he caught Shou staring again and trying to hide his face in the book when he was noticed.

“Shou-kun… is there something you want to talk about?” he ventured to guess.

A look of relief came to Shou’s face. “Yes,” he admitted sheepishly, setting the book aside without marking his page. He hadn’t even been reading it.

------------

Hey, Nao-san, I need some advice.

A smile came to Nao’s face as he read the message on his phone. He glanced over at the recording booth where Tora was taking a short break, and then at the others in the room. No one seemed to be watching.

Okay~ Do you want to talk about it?

The reply came seconds later: Yes.

Laughing lightly, Nao turned in his seat to face Hiroto. “Well then why don’t you just talk to me instead of sending messages?”

“It’s kind of an embarrassing topic,” Hiroto started to say, only to be interrupted as Nao’s phone went off again. He couldn’t keep the look of impatience from his face when Nao held up a finger to tell him to wait a minute, and checked the new message on his phone. Reading it, he started to laugh quietly. He sent his reply and turned his attention to Hiroto again.

“It’s about Shou-kun.”

------------

“I know he has a crush on me, but I don’t want to say anything,” Shou explained, leaning forward in his seat and playing with one of the rings on his fingers idly. “He thinks he’s doing a good job of keeping it a secret. And I know he’ll work up the courage to tell me soon.”

Saga nodded his head, the gears turning in his head as he went into matchmaker mode. “So we just need to set up an environment where Hiroto will feel comfortable enough to tell you…”

“No, I don’t think-”

A pout came to Shou’s face as he was shushed by Saga, who had taken out his phone, his fingers frantically running over the keys as he typed a message. “There. Nao-kun will know what to do.”

------------

Nao listened patiently as Hiroto talked, trying to keep the smile from his face. It was difficult not to find his frustration about confessing to Shou incredibly cute.

“I don’t want to make it all cute, you know?” Hiroto said, and Nao quickly tried to get rid of the thought. “I just want to tell him, and be very straightforward about it. I don’t want to sound like a fangirl telling him about a crush.”

Nao couldn’t help it- he laughed at this, earning him a glare from Hiroto who was thankfully cut off before he could complain that Nao wasn’t being very helpful.

“Hiroto-kun, we need your opinion on the sound of this part.” Tora had left the recording booth and was motioning his fellow guitarist over to a pair of headphones. When he went to listen, Nao slipped out of the room, going to find Saga.

The scene he walked in to at the break room was a rather amusing one. Saga was animatedly describing something to Shou, who looked more than a little bored and annoyed.

“And then,” Saga went on, not noticing Shou’s lack of interest, “a light breeze will blow your hair in front of your eyes, and Hiroto-kun will reach up to push it back, leaning in until your lips meet in the perfect kiss…”

“I had no idea you were such a romantic, Saga-kun,” Nao said loudly from the doorway, holding his stomach as he burst into laughter.

“Nao-kun!” Saga’s expression brightened tremendously at his appearance, the contrast with Shou’s even greater now, and he scooted over as Nao came to join him on the couch. “I was just explaining to Shou-kun here why the roof would be the perfect place to set up Hiroto’s confession to him.”

“And I was just trying to tell him that it’s utterly ridiculous.” Shou crossed his arms over his chest. “Hiroto-kun wouldn’t want any of that nonsense. I know him. I just want you guys to make him feel more confident.”

His logic was lost, however, as Nao took up the idea as well. “Just think about it… the nice view, the fresh air. And we can wait until later, when the sun’s about to set! It could be perfect!”

“You just leave it up to us, Shou-kun,” Saga said, a grin on his face. But the words sounded more like a threat to Shou than a reassurance.

------------

Nao was waiting for Hiroto as he left the recording room. Taking him by his arm, he dragged him off without giving him a chance for questions. “Come on, Shou-kun is waiting on the roof for you to talk to him.”

“What? Why the roof?”

“Because it’s romantic, of course.”

Hiroto felt rushed, not only because he was being pulled up a flight of stairs by an excited Nao, but because he felt he wasn’t quite ready to confess his feelings to Shou yet. There was no deterring Nao, however, as he pushed him through a door out on the roof. Shou was already there, as promised. The sun was peeking out over the clouds in the sky, giving his blonde hair a soft glow and he smiled as he looked at Hiroto.

“Shou-kun… there’s something I want to tell you.”

“I know. Listen, Saga and Nao seem to think this needs to be some sort of grand, perfect moment.” Shou looked down at his feet as he spoke, only glancing up at Hiroto at the last moment. “But I think it’s perfect enough if it’s just me and you. So I’ll just say it. I like you, Hiroto-kun.”

A grin came to Hiroto’s face. “I’m so relieved to hear that. I like you too, Shou-kun.”

“Good. Now let’s get off this roof… it’s cold up here.”

Hiroto took hold of Shou’s arm, pulling him close to warm him up. He was starting to think that Saga and Nao’s idea hadn’t been so bad after all.

------------

“Hiroto-kun was so cute when I sent him off to meet Shou,” Nao said, grinning as he and Saga sat together on the couch once more. It was about an hour later, and the recording process was still going smoothly in spite of the fact that so many of the band members were distracted.

“I’m so glad I came up with that roof idea,” Saga replied. “I really can be brilliant sometimes.” He followed up his casual bragging by trying to put his arm around Nao’s shoulder, but Nao pulled away.

“It was my idea!” he objected. “Hiroto-kun asked me for advice first, and I was the one who finally convinced Shou-kun to get up there!”

At this moment, Tora walked in, overhearing what they were saying. “Shou and Hiroto are on the roof?” he asked, looking tired as he took a seat. He’d had to do more work on account of all the slacking from the matchmaking pair and their not unwitting but still unfortunate victims. “You know, I went up there earlier for a smoke break, and the door nearly shut on me. Turns out it was locked, too. I’d check on them if I were you.”

Saga and Nao had already jumped up, rushing out the door. “Yeah, you’d better hurry!” Tora called after them. “It’s raining!”

------------
A slight overhang by the door offered the best shelter on the roof. Hiroto and Shou had huddled in the small space when the rain started, but the ‘light breeze’ that was supposed to gently ruffle Shou’s hair was only making the rain fall at an angle, so that it still hit them.

“This isn’t very romantic,” Hiroto mumbled, rubbing at his arms in a vain effort to get rid of the goose bumps there.

Laughing, Shou leaned over to kiss the top of his head. “It could be worse. The rain’s actually kind of pretty…”

Even as he said this, the door opened with a clunk and a creak, and he jumped to his feet. “Finally! I was starting to think you guys didn’t even notice we were gone.” As he pushed past an embarrassed looking Nao and Saga, he took Hiroto’s hand in his.

“Ah, but they look so sweet together, don’t they?” Nao asked Saga. He nodded his head, reaching for Nao’s hand as they watched Hiroto and Shou and walk away, talking in whispers to each other.

“Hey,” Hiroto called, turning around as they reached the bottom of the stairs. “We’ve decided that next time, we’re going to plan something romantic for you two.”

The implied threat wasn’t lost on the pair as they followed. “You know, Saga-kun, you're right, that whole roof thing was your idea.”

“No, no, you were the mastermind who put it in action. And the one who shut the door to the roof.”

As they continued to bicker, they didn't notice that the conspiratorial whispers had stopped and Shou and Hiroto were sharing their first sweet, if slightly wet, kiss.
