Search for the records you already have on eBay and see if there are any there, and what kind of prices they go for. That at least will give you a ballpark figure with which to compare other options.
The problem with selling rare stuff on eBay is that you need someone to be looking for it while you're selling it. That problem at least isn't the case if you go for something like Amazon's marketplace instead.
Further to the second of those points: it is often a good idea to advertise your eBay auctions. This requires some care, since most online communities are (justifiably) wary of advertising. However, there are often specific forums for this sort of thing where it is possible to say "Hey, I'm auctioning the following [blah, blah, blah]", in case anyone's interested.
The rarer and more valuable something is, the less advisable to dump it on eBay with no publicity at all. It will probably still sell, but for far less than it's worth.
