... they do, actually! Now that you mention it.

I think so, too. And it's good that you have faith in her.

Do they exist in your world, too? I never knew they were anywhere else by the Twelve Kingdoms.

I think that was one of the reasons Youko wanted me to meet her. She was having doubts about that.

They're mythical creatures - must be same as for Youko, I guess. Especially since she's from Japan, too.

Yes. I know.

Yeah, it's the same in Japan and in China; not that I paid a lot of attention until a curse turned me into one.

Really? Curses really do everything.

Wasn't that previously established.

People got turned into animals; some were legendary like dragons or unicorns while the majority got stuck as cats, dogs or lions.

Now I see. And the City decided to play its idea of a joke on you.

Huh. I had noooo idea why they kept throwing me the Kirin theme at my direction, it got me intrigued enough to check the library.

And that's how you knew it was actually a Japanese thing?

Uh, I have seen tapestries and sculptures of Japanese Kirin legends in the museum, but they didn't resemble the ones of the twelve kingdoms so I never connected the dots. Myths were never my thing.

Then it's no wonder you were surprised.

They aren't really my thing either, but when Rokuta-kun mentioned that kirin exist in Japanese folklore, the word rung a bell.

The word wasn't real familiar, the last thing in my mind were folk tales.

I don't think you were having a nice, uneventful day either, eh?

Not really, I was more thinking ways to return home than being fascinated by the local... fauna.

That's what I guessed.
