[Rin has heard the crash and comes running from her room, telling her father that she'll be right back while she's at it.]

What's going on?

Okay.

[Gives her father a glance herself; he smiles at her and comes closer.]

He's very nice! I love my dad.

[He chuckles.] I can tell. I guess not everyone had a bad father. That's sort of a relief to know.

[Her expression saddens a little, and she looks to the ground.]

Y-yeah...

All over the network it just seems like... everyone had such horrible fathers. I don't understand how any parent could be that mean.

[He looks away thoughtfully. It really didn't make sense to him, especially considering children in other worlds were born more...intimately.]

The more I hear about it, the more it depresses me.

[He nods in agreement. Honestly, compared to a lot of people on the network, his father wasn't so bad after all.]

I guess since family is something so important, it impacts you pretty hard.

Of course. They're the closest people to someone from birth... if you aren't orphaned then.

[He smiles sadly.] Or abandoned. But I guess... as a kirin, I'm not suppose to even have parents anyway.

What, really not? I didn't know that.

It's true. We're born on Mt. Hou from the Shashinboku because a kingdom needs a new kirin, unlike human children who are born when a couple prays to the Heavens.

Honestly, the life of a kirin is really pathetic.

So, basically, you exist for no other reason than to serve your king, and your kingdom.

Pretty much. Pathetic, right? Not even our own body belongs to us.

... that's sad.

So... how's Shouryuu-san about this? You fight with him a lot.

The life of a kirin is a sad one all right.

I doubt he thinks about it. He's just an idiot. ...But it's not like a dislike him or anything. Just... for a long time, I didn't like kings.

He didn't seem like an idiot to me, and Youko doesn't seem to think so, either.

Still, that's... I'm sorry.
