It was hard to compete with your best friend.
But try, they did.
Gokudera and Yamamoto sat with Tsuna in the office, both munching on sandwiches as Tsuna watched them both nervously, his own food untouched. They were meant to be covering some current issues at the moment, but the quiet current of tension made him hesitate, shuffling the papers in his hand nervously.
What was this about?
Gokudera and Yamamoto shot each other dark looks occasionally, luckily never quite meeting each other's eyes, before their gaze returned devotedly to the squirming and confused Tsuna. Finally, he couldn't take it anymore.
"Alright." He slammed down the papers he held onto the table. "Can you two just tell me what's going on?"
Gokudera looked ashamed to be caught out, feeling as though what they were doing was petty, but Yamamoto merely smiled and looked towards Gokudera for guidance. Gokudera glared back at the swordsman - The heck are you relying on me for?
"Nothing, Jyuudaime. Don't worry about it." Gokudera replied, trying to soothe Tsuna, but Tsuna was not easily fooled - or not as easily as he once might have been?
At any rate, he wasn't afraid to ask now.
"This doesn't seem like nothing to me. Spit it out." He urged.
Yamamoto grinned at Gokudera before placing his food down on his plate on the table. "We're just... fighting over who gets you."
Tsuna was taken aback... clearly this was not what he was expecting.
"... What?!"
Gokudera flung his own food back onto his plate and jumped to his feet glaring at Yamamoto before looking imploringly at his Jyuudaime.
"I'm sorry, Jyuudaime, I-"
Tsuna held up a hand even as he blinked at them. This was a little overwhelming.
Before he realised it, Yamamoto was next to him, touching his hair gently with the usual easygoing smile on his face. "I like you, Tsuna."
"E-eh..?"
"Jyuudaime!" Gokudera was on his right hand side. "I'm your right-hand man. I would serve you to the death." His emerald eyes smouldered.
"..." Tsuna looked back and forth between Yamamoto and Gokudera on either side of him.
"Ehhh?!"
