Intrigue

Dino surveyed his new student with part admiration, part exasperation. Having been training intensely for the past few days, Dino had learned about Hibari's intense determination and drive, tirelessly continuing his quest to become stronger. Dino suspected that on most occasions if he had not called a halt so he could have a drink, eat something, or sleep, they would probably have trained non-stop for the duration.

Even now as he sat on the ground, winding up his whip for the night, Hibari stood a little distance away, dusty and slightly ruffled but alert, his eyes sharp and tonfas held steadily at the ready, gazing down on his tutor.

"Kyoya." Dino's voice was soft but firm as he addressed his student. "We're stopping for today. Come on, sit down."

When Hibari made no move, Dino quirked his mouth and rolled his eyes.

"You have to rest sometime, and even if you don't, I do."

Romario arrived at Dino's side and handed him some food as Hibari reluctantly sat down, folding away his beloved tonfas with precision before accepting some food from Romario, who stepped back immediately as though afraid Hibari might attack at any instant. (Although this was possibly true enough.)

Hibari had improved in the past few days as they battled intensely in huge clearing where they were situated. Experience was the best way to learn something, and Dino sensed a thirst in Hibari to learn more, become stronger, so did not complain when their battles lengthened to hours. He pointed out Hibari's 'mistakes' as they fought and Hibari remembered them, not committing them a second time.

Neither merely fought brainlessly. It was as much a battle of the minds as well as a physical one. Each employed strategies that brought them closer to defeating the other, yet quick thinking combated the action, and their mental fight continued. Perhaps their bodies were a tiny bit more scratched and bruised then before, but still very much in fighting condition.

Well, at the least, this was a good exercise in endurance, Dino thought, as he handed Hibari some more food and made sure he ate it all - they had almost fought (that is, trained) the whole day non-stop. But he'd heard from Reborn about how strong Hibari's will was. As long as he wanted something, he would push himself for it, no matter how hard it was. The fact that he had managed to move and fight after Mukuro had damaged his body in such a brutal, yet clinically thorough, way so was almost miraculous.

Dino continued keeping a sharp eye on Hibari as Romario set out some sweet stream wate for them and brought over some sleeping bags. Hibari quietly ate the food with small, efficient bites, occasionally feeding the small bird which sat on his shoulder. Dino had noticed the bird fluttering overhead all day, but had not questioned it.

As Hibari crumbled some of a biscuit and held his palm out for the small yellow bird, Dino blinked at the image the boy made. For all his viciousness, he had a really different side when it came to animals. The small bird picked at the crumbs and Hibari patiently waited until it trilled, having had it's fill.

"Boss."

Dino blinked once, aware he had been staring.

"Uh, yes, Romario?"

"Everything's set up, Boss."

"Ah, thanks."

Dino glanced back at Hibari who was now looking back with his signature glare. With a slight smile, Dino got to his feet. Try all he might to hide it, Dino now knew there was a softer side to Hibari behind that glare and the tonfas, quicker to punish than listen.

And he found himself intrigued.

I'm glad this isn't full of innuendo or something. I thought if I wrote anything today, it would probably be full of innuendo. I think ch1ps can contest to that. Luckily it seems ok. =.=
Not very well written though. That's what you get from reading Lamebook with people's terrible spelling and grammar.
