Horror, apprehension, nervousness, doubt, anxiety, unease.
What are the emotions one feels on his wedding day?
He watches; dressed uncomfortably in the brand new, tailored, stiff, white three-piece suit he is not used to (too formal); as she seems to glide down the aisle, adorned in a simple, yet elegant white dress, a thin gauze veil only just shadowing her brilliant, happy gaze. The light folds of her gown billow about her slim form, making her seem like some creature from a fairytale, ethereal - an angel, perhaps, descending from heaven. The image is clichéd, but fitting.
She is radiant.
Her amber eyes glitter with laughter, and her long, tediously curled hair - courtesy of Bianchi and a slightly somber Haru - tumbles out behind her freely in her joyful descent, guided by her apprehensive father, not sure he is ready to let his daughter leave his arms for the last time.
She had never looked so beautiful.
She steps up beside him; glowing with joy it is almost hard to keep his eyes on her. They had endured so much, for so long, together. Sharing the good times, and the bad. She, along with Haru, had taught him that. He remembered, sitting on the grassy bank many years ago where he had proceeded to tell her everything, about the Vongola. About his life. His new life.
And she had not backed away.
She made friends with his Famiglia, with his friends, and although she could not fight, she was his constant support, fighting back his gloom with her ever constant cheer when he had need of her joy and light. Listening, even when it was hard to speak, comforting when things occurred out of their control.
And their love had blossomed.
Was it their time to be justly rewarded?
