today's verse, Matthew 17:20-21 The Message

Sep 05, 2008 00:30

"You're not yet taking God seriously," said Jesus. "The simple truth is that if you had a mere kernel of faith, a poppy seed, say, you would tell this mountain, 'Move!' and it would move. There is nothing you wouldn't be able to tackle."

I see a VP nominee misusing her "faith" and trying to sell a radical right platform in hopes that the Evangelicals and other such "Christian" conservatives will put McCain over the top. The truth is not enough women will agree with her extremist views on guns and the "right to life." Palin is one of those religious nutjobs who misinterpret scripture and bends them to serve her agenda.

Obama included the above passage in his acceptance speech to motivate people into doing whatever they must to help put this country back on track. I immediately thought, after hearing him say it, of another one: "God helps those who help themselves." It's symbiosis. Have faith and work on moving that proverbial mountain and He will provide the strength because "Everything is possible through Christ."

At least I think that's how it goes.

Anyway, I'm not an avid church attendee or anything. Still, I remember whatever I was taught and it just makes sense. Too bad the Repubs rely on scripture as a mere strategy than honest belief...

Remember, this is the man who also said, "The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason", and "Lighthouses are more helpful than churches ( ... )
