One of the things I like about John is that he points out that "there are many things to say about Jesus, and that not even all the books in the world could contain everything there is to say!" It makes me think that this is the reason that John is so different from the Synoptic Gospels: John was aware of those accounts, and penned his account to give the additional information that wasn't covered in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. I think it's really neat that there's so much to Jesus that we could talk about Him for eternity and still not cover it all.
