Lunch, Paperwork and more: Spock, Chris Pine.

Sep 21, 2010 18:06

George had enjoyed his chat with Jim, but lunchtime soon called. He was debating between a turkey sandwich or something more filling. Idly he made a mental note to drop by Spock's office after lunch if Spock didn't call him. The paper work load must be immense. He spotted Chris and waved at him. Should see how Chris is settling in on the Enterprise

Feeling more his usual curious self than he had in days, Chris had spent the morning exploring the ship, proud that he could find his way around the public areas without getting too turned around. The morning had flown by, and with his stomach growling insistently (something Chris decided he would never, ever take for granted again), he found himself walking into the mess for lunch. It felt so good to actually be hungry again, he thought as he looked over the choices.

He caught sight of someone waving out of the corner of his eye and turned, surprised to see that it was Chris Hems...no, George Kirk. Waving back, Chris walked over, smiling as he approached. "You must be George. I'm Chris."

George eventually decided the turkey sandwich would be plenty. He didn't want to be sleepy if he was helping Spock with paperwork. "Great to meet you. Getting lunch?"

"Yeah," Chris replied, finally settling on the club sandwich and a fruit salad. "It's great to meet you, too." He picked up his food and grabbed a drink.

"I understand congratulations are in order," he continued with a grin.

"Hmmm?" George looked confused for a moment. "Oh! Yeah." He fiddled with his ring. "Just back from the honeymoon. Well, back in a broad sense."

He lead Chris to a table. "So tell me how you're finding things?"

He had done everything else that didn't require a mind-numbing trance to complete, and then he had started on the tea, boiling the water and setting out three cups while the tea brewed.

"George, Mister Pine," he nodded to them as they entered, feeling more than seeing that this was not his Jim. "I hope that George has not given you the impression that this is entertaining or stimulating." On their usual days, at least.

Chris' mood sobered a little as he nodded at Spock, recalling the mood Zach had been in after they had all switched back. He still hadn't had the opportunity to talk with him yet, beyond half-awake commentary over coffee that morning.

"He hasn't," Chris replied. "Though I confess the idea of a useful task is appealing to me. I'm not used to being idle. How can I help?"

George took his customary seat, and leaned back comfortably in it, accepting the tea with a nod of thanks. "Jasmine tea this time Spock?"

"Grab a seat. Spock's probably already got the padds organized."

"Yes, and these pads all have equivalent security permissions. Please refrain from accessing files that do not require your attention." Spock took his seat behind the desk. "You may assist George with the personal leave requests and activities propositions."

He had messages from Command that required his attention.
