Speak of the devil. A movement caught his eye; a tiny striped tail that disappeared around a corner ahead.
"Oh, you did not, Pine," Karl muttered to himself, hurrying up but trying to keep his steps light. He peeked before he jumped out, and smiled at the sight of the orange kitten dawdling down the empty corridor, sniffing at the walls as it went.
