Looking back to when i was say 14 I always figured id have a wife house white picket fence and 3 kids by now. I wonder what happened to that. I was talking to an x and i got the distinct feeling the only reason we didnt work out was I was exactly what she was hoping to find

I think women give the chase largely because they think that's the only way to keep a guy interested. From my experience that's true - as soon as you make your motives a little too obvious, that seems to take away from the excitement of the relationship for both people. It is indeed a different case, however, when someone is playing "hard to get" just because they want the attention, and not because they're really interested in the first place. That really is a great way to waste someone's time and energy, and it's not particularly fair
