the goal.
write 20,000+ words of jim kirk-centered fanfiction and creating jim kirk-centered art alongside that fanfiction.

the content.
anything with jim kirk as a major participating character. any version of jim kirk (tos, aos, mirrorverse, etc) accepted, any pairing (slash, het, gen) accepted. all genres welcome, including aus. threesomes and crossovers encouraged.

how it works for authors.
authors will be allowed to sign up from october 21st until november 21st. once you sign up, you're free to write, write, write. you can either continue a story you've already started or write something completely from scratch: however, either way you need 20k of completely new content by march 1st.

until posting, you are not allowed to publish your works and should only share it with chosen beta readers and friendly critics. there will be one author only check in in december to make sure everyone's keeping up to speed, but it is not a requirement. in january you will submit a summary of your story to me to be put up for artist claims.

in february, you will be asked to email me your final draft of your fic. once i have receieved every final draft, i will craft a posting schedule that will begin on march 1 and run until all of our stories are up, probably going one a day.

how it works for artists.
when you sign up, you're going to have to wait around for a while, unfortunately. the first two months or so will be pretty boring. however, artist claims happen in january: i will put up the summaries the authors give me of their fics for you to choose from. once you choose and get your fic, you will be given the author's contact info and you two can start collaborating for the next two months on what kind of art should go with their story.

can i be both?
absolutely! however, please consider the workload and whether or not you can balance things in your schedule before signing up for both positions.

what about beta readers?
having fics beta read is highly encouraged, but not required. there will be a post for beta readers who want to participate to sign up, so that authors can get into contact with them - and of course, if you already have a beta reader that enjoys critiquing your work, you're more than welcome to ask them to look it over.

can i write two stories/can i claim more than one story
you absolutely can write more than one story: but please consider your workload and whether or not you can juggle that amount of writing against real life. our maximum for the bang will be two stories per person.

during artist claims, you are more than welcome to claim more than one story - however, claims will open up for seconds after every artist has already claimed once, to make it fair.

what if i need to drop from the bang?
there will be a drop post listed in the community where you can leave your username and let me know that you've decided to drop. you can also contact me through the community email or on tumblr or livejournal.

wait, how can i contact you if i have questions?
the fastest way to get into contact with me will be through the bang's tumblr, as that's something i check every day (please send it un-anon, otherwise i won't be able to answer you privately). otherwise, you can shoot me an email through the bang's address or send me a message on livejournal: be forewarned that i check this about every other day, so it may be a while before i answer you.
