The Avengers - spoilers free short review

I can’t say I trust professional reviews and reviewers much these days. Iron Man 2 - one of the worst superhero films ever created, a pile of complete mess, ridiculous dialogue and missed opportunities - is fresh on RottenTomatoes while Cowboys and Aliens - the most innovative and interesting sf film I’ve seen in years - is rotten ( Read more... )

Wow, you're the only person I've ever seen say anything bad about Iron Man two. Ever.

Really? That's surprising to hear. Most of the ppl I talked to and most of the reviewers on the Internet, hate its guts. It pissed off Confused Matthew on Blip.tv so badly, he swore never to see The Avengers. And of course, Rourke got completely screwed over, saying that almost all of his scenes were cut out - and he was the main villain!

For me, the worst parts were the plot that led nowhere, the underdeveloped villains, Justin Hammer being there... What for?, the constant annoying banter, pointless comedic scenes that could have been replaced with some character development and the missed opportunity of having Tony question his heritage. Which is about 75% of this film.

Well, I didn't love the film as much as you, nor hate Iron Man II as much, but... there's definitely a lot to like about Avengers. I wonder, though, how well it stands up for people who've not seen all the tie-ins.

We'll soon know; my mum (who had seen the films but remembers nothing) and aunt are going to see it soon. I'll tweet their feelings on the film ;)

I loved The Avengers. I felt the same way beforehand as well--I was really apprehensive since Marvel murdered the image of my fave hero in Spider-man 3. But everyone had their chance to shine. I thought I would hate ScarJo, but I ended up loving her. I was worried about the Hulk, but he turned out to be my favourite. I thought Iron Man might get too much screen time, but everyone had their moments to shine. Looove it!

Oh Spider-Man 3, you had so much potential, you had VENOM. HOW DO YOU SCREW UP VENOM?!?!?! Can't say I'm excited over the reboot, because of the horribleness of the SM3, not yet sure if I see it.

Agreed on Hulk! He was hilarious and so was Thor. Eh, ALL of them! Loki was just such a raging queen, and he got compared to Wicked Witch!!!! My head canon of Loki = Elphaba is now CANON canon!!!!!!!!!! :D Dude should try Broadway.

I don;t think anyone's excited about the Spidey reboot. It'll just be his orgin story, again.
