Nowhere in Africa (Caroline Link, 2001) - Jewish refugee family moves to Kenya fleeing Germany in the 1930's. How did you watch the last five minutes of Hostel 2? Was it because you were standing in the doorway before you did the exit polls? 'I'm fucking Hercules' as in: 'I'm making love to Hercules' or 'I am Hercules'? It might be just me but I enjoyed watching the first one because of how blatantly manipulative it was -- but it's more like I liked the things around and outside of the movie, not the movie itself. It's strange that a movie like Hostel would play in Hollywood megaplexes because it's nothing more than torture porn with a thinly veiled 'Isn't this wrong?' sort of philosophy. Some things I'll understand but never 'get'.

A girl is being tortured by this guy, and trying to appease him she at one point says, "I know you're strong..." He replies, "Yes, I'm strong. I'M FUCKING HERCULES!" It's just a ridiculously bad line.

You guessed correctly about how I saw it. As for what you said about enjoying it, I think maybe I could see a single scene and enjoy it with that in mind, but I can't possibly comprehend watching the entire movie and actually being able to enjoy it consistently just because of that. I think I have too low a tolerance for torture scenes and too low a tolerance for extremely bad writing to be able to make it through more than a couple scenes without getting hysterically irritated.
