I like that.
I think someone should send that to Dr. Phillip.

I believe I'm going to forward this onto my father-- which has nothing to do with my previous comment at all. I think he'd get a kick out of it.

Maybe we should show this article to the administration? Methinks yes. This is impressive and I would be intrigued by its application.

That's amazing! I think a multitude of universities could benefit from following this example.

Wow, that's amazing. I mean, really, when you get right down to it, College is about preparing you for a career. And how many people are REALLY going to make a career out of professional sports. The only area that should give full ride scholarships is academics, because that is where a student should be concentrating, and THAT is what is going to prepare them to make their own living.

By the way, I never paid it any attention while I was there, but just what IS Dana's division when it comes to sports?

That is just the problem...we are NAIA...which some will tell you it is between Div. 2 and Div. 3 in terms of competition. Unlike Birmingham Southern, Dana doesn't have the option of dropping Div. 1 programs...which cost much more money than do NAIA teams. However, I think the larger picture is to waste less money on the F-PETA...that is...the Future P.E. Teachers of America.

um...all politics aside...Dana should Definitely! do this. my sister goes to Gustavus, which doesn't give scholarships for athletics, though she is an athlete, and has an academic scholarship. There are a lot of division 3 schools out there..why not go that way? It possibly will mean death to football on campus, but I'm guessing our cross-country team won't hurt for it as most of them would be just as willing to be there on an academic scholarship.

Peace
Jo
