[Officer's Meeting] -- [Shuttlebay]

Aug 25, 2009 01:03

nu!Kirk: Slowly Kirk walked up to the front of the assembly, looking damn fine in his dress uniform of course. Very captainly. He could not keep the grin from his face as he looks out over the massive amount of people there, his entire crew and who knew how many others from other dimensions, worlds, and universes.

"Today marks our final day in orbit over Risa, and the end of our shore leave. It marks our next great adventure, with new members of crew, new guests on board, and changes that we've all had to deal with.

I know that it has been strange, even for people used to exploring distance worlds and species and anomalies. People have been appearing out of no where, back from the dead, from other times, and even duplicates of ourselves."

Didn't glance at Jim. Nope.

"But today, I stand before you to bring to light what several members of our crew did in a moment of terrible tragedy, and to formally bring in those who have decided to join our crew."

A look to Uhura and nu!Scotty standing nearby. "Nyota Uhura, Montgomery Scotty, and Pavel Chekov would you join me up here?"

nu!Scotty: Scotty glanced at the assembly beside him and rose from his chair smoothly. He cast a glance at the officers near him and moved to the front alongside, but not too closely to the Captain. "Aye, sir."

Uhura: Nyota, feeling just a little worse for wear, straightened up as Kirk walked to the front. Despite her general exhaustion, she couldn't help but smile as he began speaking, feeling all too excited to be back in space. She looked up with a small frown as he called her name, but nodded her assent and stood up, surreptitiously yanking down the hem of her dress uniform as she moved to stand next to Scotty.

Pavel:  Pavel contained a sheepish grin, trying to fill out the dress uniform that was undoubtedly a little too wide for him, despite it having been fit. He stood, head high and shoulders back, trying to defy his nervous jitters, then walked forward to join Uhura and Scotty on the stage.

nu!Spock: Spock approached from the side of the stage, looking just as handsome (if not better) than Kirk in his own dress uniform. In his hand he carried three black boxes, each carrying a Starfleet Medal of Commendation. When he stepped up to Kirk's side, he carefully opened one, and passed it to him so he could award it.

George Kirk: George stood at attention, trying to maintain a proper, serious mien, but he couldn't resist smiling widely. He loved when folks got what was coming for them.

nu!Kirk: Kirk nodded to his first officer and waited for him to pop open the first box and took the first medal out, stepping up in front of Scotty. "Lt. Commander Montgomery Scott, I award you this Starfleet Medal of Commendation in lieu of your calm head during a crisis and command of the situation."

He grinned to Scotty before tucking the silver medal up to the front of his dress uniform. His voice dropped to something for Scotty alone, "...Your quick thinking saved hundreds."

nu!Scotty: Scotty stiffened slightly, puffing out his chest as the Captain pinned the medal just above the white and black weave of his sash.  He wasn't sure how to answer, and barely managed a, "Thank you, Captain." Though he tried to keep it subdued, a quiet smile threatened to break his expression.

nu!Kirk: Screw it, Kirk wasn't hiding his grin. He took up the next medal and offered a brilliant smile to Uhura, "Lieutenant Nyota Uhura, I award you this Starfleet Medal of Commendation in lieu of your bravery and quick thinking."

As he pinned the medal to her, he couldn't help but add, "...and kicking some major Klingon ass."

Uhura: Nyota broke into a wide grin as Scotty accepted his medal, resisting the urge to hug him. Instead she stood straight, hands clasped behind her back.  She fixed Kirk with a softer smile of thanks, only just holding back her laughter at the added comment. "Thank you, Captain." she returned politely. "Nemaiyo, Commander."

Spock: Spock, while everyone's eyes were focused on Nyota, allowed his expression to soften a tad as she received her medal. Not quite a smile, but his eyes were bright and his congrats apparent.

TOS!Chapel: Standing next to her shipmates, Christine smiled broadly and joined the applause for her new friend. Sneaking a glance at Spock, she wondered how much he remembered about last night's karaoke.

nu!Kirk: This one was going to be a little different. He picked up the next medal from Spock and stepped in front of Pavel. He had a near laugh that threatened to bubble, looking to the nervous young man in front of him. "Ensign Pavel... ...Andreievich Chekov."  He was pretty sure he didn't fuck that middle name up. Even might have said it right. "Not only do I award you this Starfleet Medal of Commendation in lieu of your strength of character to risk yourself in protection of others and bravery in the line of fire... in accordance with Starfleet Order 178.54, I raise you to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. Congratulations."

nu!Scotty: Despite his position on stage, Scotty leaned forward to glance at the young Ensign--no Lieutenant--and smile. He brought his hands together in genial applause and leaned back into his place.

Demora: Demora couldn't suppress a smile when she saw Chekov receiving his medal. She knew exactly what it looked like - she had seen the medal often enough as a child. Her parents would always take down the medal to show her, and would tell her the story of how papa had earned it.

The burst of nostalgia hit her hard. The medal now pinned on Chekov's shirt was new, shiny. The one she knew back home was slightly worn down over time.  She wanted to see the old, tattered one, not the new, shiny one.  She wanted her dads.

nu!Bones: Bones watched all of this with a tired grin. Damn, the kid deserved that, he thought to himself, knowing how badly he'd been injured in the fight. Uhura and Scotty, too, he was glad they were getting some recognition. And the smile on Kirk's face... it was clear he loved his crew, and from the looks on all their faces, they loved him too.

nu!Chapel: Chapel resisted the urge to wolf-whistle, mostly by clapping so hard her hands hurt.  It was wonderful to see her friends and fellow crewmen being acknowledged.

Uhura: Nyota found herself unable to keep her professional stance any longer, her restrained smile growing bigger as she moved to embrace Pavel tightly. "поздравления!" she whispered, quickly pulling back as she fell into place.

nu!Kirk: Kirk grinned broadly and stepped back, gesturing over the three before before clapping, almost laughing in sheer joy. He had been planning the ceremony for some time and was glad it was mostly going off without a hitch.

Pike: Pike smiled broadly at the row of young officers, standing a little bashfully but glowing with pride, and their grinning captain next to them. A credit to Starfleet, all of them.

TOS!Scotty: Cadet Scott added to the applause, though more reserved; standing in the back at parade rest, he was turned out in the high-collared dress black uniform from his own universe, his command stamp shining on the right side of his throat, the single silver bar on the left, and his hair combed back neatly off of his forehead.  And after he was done cheering, he went right back to parade rest, face appropriately solemn.

George Kirk: George stuck two fingers in his mouth and let off a whistle of approval. Chris had taught him that.

nu!Spock: He stepped back alongside Kirk, bringing his hands together as well. It was not in Vulcan tradition to clap--they had their own ways of acknowledging someone's accomplishments without making noisy gestures--but he indulged it in anyway, for the crew (and Nyota).

Chekov: Pasha's proud grin cut across her face. She clapped furiously and cheered as her counterpart received his Lieutenant’s rank, it was well known that Pavel deserved it after the horrors he had to endure on the Farragut. The girl’s heart swelled with pride at her other-self’s achievement.

Winona: Winona smiled, clapping as she watched the proceedings, feeling delightful that her son had such a wonderful, talented, brave crew behind him. She had to fight to the urge to laugh at George's whistle, it wasn't Chris' by a long shot.

Harold: Harold was ducked as far back as he could find in the crowd.  He fiddled with the hem of his shirt, lost in thought.  He was happy for them all, really, but he didn't feel he had anything to contribute.  He hid as best he could.

Pike: Pike raised a teasing eyebrow at George's. Decent, but...Chris stuck his fingers in his own mouth and showed him how it was really done, letting out a piercing and most un-Admiral-like whistle. What the hell. It was a special occasion.

nu!Kirk: Okay, the whistle just made him laugh too hard that he couldn't keep it in. You still whistle really loud, Pike!

Pavel: Someone drop an anvil on him Pavel's eyes widened in complete surprise. Mouth agape for more than a few seconds, he did a double take, looking at his captain like the man had pulled his leg a mile long until, there, Pavel couldn't contain his grin anymore as realization dawned on him. 'Lieutenant Chekov', it had a nice ring to it. Pavel beamed, then let out a pleasant, restrained laugh, accepting Uhura's hug gratefully and looking around the room momentarily to drink in the amazing applause, catching friends and lovers in his gaze. After coming down from his seventh heaven momentarily, he grasped Kirk's hand strongly, offering a semi choked "Thank you, Captain," smile never leaving and eyes twinkling brighter than ever.

nu!Kirk: Kirk couldn't help himself. He stepped forward and tugged Pavel into a brief, tight hug. "You earned it. You've got some brass balls, kid. You're gonna go far." A wink towards the younger male before he stepped back, still grinning.

Pavel: Pavel blushed a little at the comment, the initial shock still humming proudly inside him, but he returned the captain with a brighter smile than before, if that were even possible.

nu!Kirk: Kirk gestured with his head, "The three of you can stop being on display now." Couldn't stop grinning. Nope. "I get to torture some other people now." He looked over the audience for two people in particular.

nu!Scotty: "Aye then?" Scotty teased and adjusted his shirt, if not a bit proudly. He set a congratulatory pat on Uhura's shoulder, and a harder clap on Chekov's as he left the front and returned to his place among the crowd.

Uhura: "Thank you, Captain." she said once more, giving Scotty and Chekov a bright grin. With a last parting look at Spock, then Kirk, then back to Spock, Nyota ducked gracefully back to her seat. She silently thanked god for her dark complexion, making it impossible for anyone to pick up how deeply she was blushing.

Pavel: Pavel followed Uhura with less grace than her, most definitely. He nearly stumbled down the steps, his grin practically splitting his face. When Pavel finally managed to sit down, though, he let out the breath he'd been containing within him for the entire time up.

nu!Kirk: With the three of them seated and Kirk still grinning like the proud bastard he was of his crew, he looked over the assembly. "I'm also proud to welcome two new members of the crew. One full time, one on contract. My new yeoman, Harold Lee," A gesture back towards Harold, "And our new part time Engineer," Pause, that did sound weird but, "Montgomery Scott." Pause, "Junior?"

cadet!Scotty: Scotty -- the cadet -- stared for a very long moment, jaw hanging open.  He hadn't particularly expected to have his name called (well, absent the junior, which made him flush a little), but after a few seconds he managed to snap his jaw closed and offer an elegant nod back to the captain, not breaking his stance.  Or, really, his flushing.

Harold: Whoashit.  Okay.  Someone said Harold's name-- he dropped the hem of his shirt and smoothed it down, looking around.  He just sort of waved at the Captain, still trying to hide.  At the mention of Scotty's name, he sought his face out in the crowd and beamed at him without being very sure if Scotty could even see him.  Got a place, Scotty.  Told you.

nu!Kirk: A sly grin spread onto Kirk's lips, "I hate long formal speeches, so that's it. You're free to go now... there's a reception though, just a small thing, if you missed the tables when you were coming in. A little celebration for what's happened tonight. Other then that, we break orbit at the beginning of alpha shift tomorrow morning!"

He looked one more time, then let his voice ring out very Captian-like, "DISMISSED!"

Marlena: Marlena claps along with the rest of the crew.  She's happy for them, really...and realistically, she didn't expect to be officially acknowledged as part of the crew, no matter what function she serves.  Her universe of origin trumps her usefulness as an officer, of course.

nu!Scotty: Scotty applaused vigorously and let a short whoop out as Kirk dismissed them. His heart was light, his face bore a broad grin, and the day was good.

George Kirk: George was just glad to be able to stay back with his lovers, and not have to do anything official for once.

TOS!Chapel: Chapel applauded loudly, trying to silently transmit to Scotty how proud she was of him. She knew how much he hated attention, but he'd dealt with it like a champ.

Uhura: Nyota darted her head around, looking for the newest members of their crew. No matter their unorthodox origins, she intended to make them feel as welcome as any other Starfleet Cadet. She applauded loudly along with the rest of the crew, standing as soon as Kirk dismissed them.

Cadet!Scotty: Cadet Scott finally relaxed his stance a little when the meeting was dismissed, rubbing at his forehead for a long moment and staying well to the back of the room.

nu!Kirk: Kirk looked through the crowd, and grinned softly as he saw Bones all dressed up in his dress uniform. Fuck, the man looked good. He glanced to Spock and nodded softly towards his first officer, then headed off towards his CMO.

officer's meeting, i am captain fucking fine, we're gonna have fun tonight
