Captain,

There's a new displaced person on the ship. I've got him settled in my room and know who he is. He's got no weapons and isn't a threat. I'm just sending a message to let you know of his presence.

David looked toward the ground and frowned himself. That was what he was afraid of. "I figured. I meant, how has he been since I died?"

"...Bit of a loaded question. 'Not good' immediately leaps to mind, but I'll say 'not good but getting better' instead." Kirk licked his lips, trying to think where the best place to do this was. Maybe it was here, divorced from everything else they shared on the ship.

He leaned over and hit the comm, "Captain to Bones."

A tired voice replied. "Hey Jim- what's up?"

Kirk looked to Emma and David and held a finger to his lips, "I need to speak with you in my office... something important's shown up. If you're not in surgery, it needs to be now."

As he carefully began to remove Bones from the rest of his shift.

An exasperated sigh could be heard. "Dammit, Jim, I'm up to my eyeballs in shit here. This can't wait?"

A glance to the two parents, and cautiously, "How bad is it done there? Something you really couldn't pass off to the other doctors and nurses? Call Bashir in if you have to."

There was a long pause. "On my way."

It took about fifteen minutes to get everything organized and where he liked it before Bones actually left Sickbay. Hitting the turbolift, he got off on the appropriate level and headed for Jim's office. He liked it there, much as he teased the younger man. There was somethingy satisfying, seeing Jim there, looking official and important.

The door swooshed open, as if he was expected. "So, what's going on, Jim?" he asked from the door, not yet noticing the other two people in the room.

Kirk really wasn't sure what to say. He stood up, gesturing for Bones to come in further. As the door shut behind the doctor, he gestured to the other two people in the room. He really... didn't need to say anything at all.

Em turned when she heard the doors swoosh open. "Lenny." she breathed, with a smile. She stood up and walked over to him, immediately pulling him into a tight hug. Ok, maybe she was embarrassing him again in front of his captain but hugs were all right, right?

David watched Emma hug their son with a small smile on his face before he spoke up with a sigh. "Leonard."

Being pulled into a hug by his mother wasn't as much of a surprise as it might have been a few weeks ago. But seeing the other person in the room made Bones' heart stop.

His face paled as he stood there, his mother's arms still tight around him. "-D-Dad?" he asked, staring as if he could not believe his eyes, because he couldn't.

Couldn't be.

Leonard looked as if he had seen a ghost, which technically he sort of had.

David nodded slowly. "Unless you know anybody else who looks like me and would be here with your mother, yeah, it's me."

He wanted to ask 'How?' and 'Why?' but fuck, so many people had arrived from everywhere and times and places and back from the fucking dead that he didn't even know what questions to ask. And the questions didn't really matter anymore, no answers.

Bones couldn't move...could barely breathe. He swallowed once, looked over at Jim and down at his mother, then back to his father, the person he'd looked up to and admired more than anyone else he'd ever known. Standing here in front of him, back from the dead.

"When did you get here?" Bones heard himself speaking but it felt like someone else was talking.
