It was so heavily backlogged. Messages, paperwork, reports, news - all of it was backlogged. Kirk had holed himself up in his office, trying to get through it all. "We're going to have to prepare the crew for this. Starfleet might end up taking away the other Pike and his Spock if my first officer decides to press charges... and what about James?" Damn, he barely met the guy and he just didn't like him, plus he hadn't heard anything good about him.

Jim had, in his mind, more or less adopted all the displaced persons as his responsibility. The decision of what happened to any of them concerned him deeply.
