[NVC Day 15] -- [And Then? Things Got Weird] -- [Kirk/Bones/Sam]

May 17, 2010 15:27

When they woke up in the morning, Jim was alone in bed. Jim only briefly thought of it, of the lovely lady that they had ravaged (and ravaged right back, wondered if he could convince Bones to do this again) and wondering where Bones was. Otherwise, he felt damn good. Hungry, thirsty, but good. He took a slow deep breath on the salty air that came ( Read more... )

Sam looked Jim up and down. There was no doubt that his brother was on vacation. The loose clothes, stubble, and skin that was still pink from the shower were all red flags of relaxation.

Sam waited for his brother to stop choking on his drink before he asked, "is McCoy around?"

Although he had messaged McCoy a few times, he had never received a reply. The doctor had been in a bad place the last time Sam had seen him. He'd waited two days, but he couldn't stand to let it go any longer.

(OOC: No stubble. Jim uses supressors for that.)

Jim looked his brother up and down as his whole body went a little cold at the question. He had spoken his approval (maybe not approval, a little more like his acceptance) of his brother and the love of his life, but having Sam there made it feel open and near instead of closed and distant and forgettable.

"No," he answered honestly, only in light of that acceptance. "Woke up alone this morning." Much to his surprise, at least.

"Will you tell him I stopped by?" Sam asked. "I haven't heard from him in a few days."

He didn't want to stay any longer than he had to, and the cold look in Jim's eyes did nothing to assuage him of that decision. It had been made clear that he wasn't exactly his brother's favorite person. However, his concern for McCoy outweighed his need to avoid his brother.

It was all wrong. He had gotten Sam back into his life after so long, he didn't want to end up avoiding him. How the hell did it all end up happening? Equally, why did he feel hot? ...again. Jim took another drink of the soda trying to force it down. "Course." A few days? Maybe Bones had talked to Sam after what had happened with Spock. "...He'll probably be right back."

He was trying, trying to be okay with it, even though he wasn't. He figured it was the universe's way of getting him back for making Bones suffer.

When Jim woke up, it was in a pile of warmth. He sighed contentedly against skin, smiling just a little as his lips pressed against flesh. His arms tightened around the body against his, a muzzy moment between sleep and full awake where he could just enjoy it. There was a faint breeze - probably from the deck doors forgotten to be closed the night before, and he could detect light on the other side of his eyelids ( ... )

Some time past before Bones stirred anymore. He was warm and comfortable and so tired from the past two days. His body felt like it had been running for miles and miles, sore and achy ( ... )

Jim was sitting in the shallow water, his head in his hands, trying to straighten out his thoughts which were zinging around in his brain like razors. His mind was oh-so-helpfully supplying images to him of what had happened the night before in glorious detail, everything he didn't want to see.

It was sweeping mixtures of disgust, anger, and guilt that him made feel sick to his stomach as the waves rolled around him.

Bones walked toward the water, his feet getting wet as he waded into the warm water. Jim wasn't looking too good, he saw, and he closed his eyes for a moment, preparing himself for what was about to happen.

He sat down in the water next to Jim, laying a hand on his shoulder.

As Bones walked off, Jim felt a numbness spreading. Slowly he walked towards their temporary quarters, feeling itchy from the inside out. He couldn't remember the last time he had actually yelled at Bones like that, and the guilt throbbed in the form of a headache in his mind.

He walked inside, not looking at the bed as he started to dig out clothes. His mind was racing back to far older days, wanting to get on his cycle and outride his own thoughts.

The sound of someone shuffling around in the room woke him. It was morning, probably late morning judging by the light coming into the room. Sam groaned into a pillow, his first waking thought being that he would have to walk through the heat to run his errands. He reached out to either side, and found that the bed was empty.

Sam sat up, groggy, and rubbed his eyes. "Good morning," he said to Jim, who had his back to him.

Jim froze at the sound of Sam's sleep-slurred voice. His hands tightened on his clothing, suddenly very very much aware of being naked. Carefully he pulled on his pants before he turned around, facing his still nude brother. He tried to get out something simple as a 'good morning' in return or a not so simple 'get the hell out', but neither managed to come out. Too many shocks, too much adrenaline too quickly.

"What time is it?" Sam asked as he squinted at the sun outside. He didn't want to get up and look for a clock. Jim looked too spooked for that, as if one sudden movement would send him running.
