[NVC Day 27] -- [Open Office] -- [Open to All]

Jun 03, 2010 09:25

With the sentencing over, the Enterprise would soon be leaving Sha'Kwai and returning to its original mission. By this point, Jim was ready for it. He wanted off the planet, his wanderlust getting the better of it. It was the longest stretch of time he had spent in once place minus his years at the Academy - always moving, always traveling, wanting ( Read more... )

Hello Captain,

We've never met, but I've heard about your experiences in space from my ex-husband, Leonard McCoy. He's told me that you are a fine captain and a friend of his, which is why I am writing to you. I have been trying to get in touch with him for a few weeks now, and he is either incapacitated or is ignoring my messages. They are regarding the situation on board with his parents.

Can you please ask him to contact me as soon as possible? There are things happening here that I might be able to handle, if he would only give me some direction or indication what he'd like done. Otherwise, I am at a loss to stop what might happen unless I take matters into my own hands.

Respectfully,
Jocelyn Treadwell

Mrs. Treadwell,

I'll be blunt, as this is a private message.

We've never met for a damn good reason, because I'm pretty sure it wouldn't end well. I don't know what you think you have to say or do about his parents, but you have absolutely nothing, no right at all, to have a say in his life and specially about his parents.

You think maybe he's ignoring your messages for a reason? He doesn't want anything to do with you except his daughter. What new way are you trying to ruin his life?

Don't contact me, or him, again unless it has to do with Joanna.

Captain James T. Kirk

Thank you for responding at least. I appreciate blunt, so I'll be blunt in return.

If you know Leonard at all, you'll know that he'd rather run and hide than deal with something that is bothering him. He knows why I want to talk, and yes, he doesn't want to deal with it. I can't imagine he's taking his parents being alive well. His father's death devastated him in ways you can't imagine.

I assure you I don't want to ruin his life. But there are reporters nosing around looking for anything related to his parents - anyone who knew them, related to them, neighbors from the old house. People have been seen poking at their graves.

The moment someone comes near my daughter is the moment this leaves his jurisdiction and I deal with it my way. If he wants hands off this, like everything else, that's fine. But he had his chance. If not for me, then for our little girl - tell him to contact me as soon as he can.

Jim stared in silence at the message. Dammit, dammit, dammit. He knew how much Bones loved Joanna... if reporters and other bullshit people like that were poking around at his parents' graves, not only did Emma and David deserve to know, but Bones had to do something.

Maybe he could do something as well. Get Starfleet to lean on the papers to keep them off the kid.

Bones,

Need you to get a hold of me asap. It's important, very important.

Bones was in the middle of running some test results when the message came. He looked down at the message and frowned. This couldn't be good.

Jim, I'm here. What's up?

I got a message from Jocelyn, and its important. I need to talk to you, immediately.

Jim sighed, rubbing a hand over his face.

Bones stared at that a moment. Was this what he thought it was, or a true emergency?

Fuck.

Is this an emergency, Jim?

If this is what I think it's about, then I'll take care of it when I get home. Don't worry about it.

Reporters and bullshit like that are poking at your parents fucking graves. The bitch is worried about your daughter being next. This isn't something that can wait.

Bones stared for a while. He couldn't believe she'd contacted Jim. Fuck.

I'll take care of it. See you tonight.
