Guinan transported on board with one bag, all she really needed. Stepping off the transporter pad, she gave a nod of thanks to the crewman who assisted her with her room assignment. The ship was large, she noticed as she walked the corridors of the Enterprise. Far larger than the last cruiser she'd flown in on her way to Sha'Kwai. Now she was leaving that planet, full of memories but on her way to make more.

Even more surprising than the size of the ship was the room she was afforded. Guinan was astute enough to know she hadn't earned this level of comfort, and pulled up the computer panel so she could express her gratitude.

Message to Captain Kirk - I've settled in my new rooms. They are very spacious, and I suspect I have you to thank for that.

If you can give me the location of the recreation area I'll be working, I can make sure all the supplies arrived and begin setting.

I hope to have it up and running in a few days.

Guinan,

Check the attached file, it should have all of the information you need.

As far as your rooms, I made sure some of my outfitting budget was spent on upgrading all crew quarters.

Hope you enjoy, and keep me updated on what's going on with the bar.

P.S. - Instead of a rec room, you were upgraded to one of the observation decks. I hope you like it - it's bigger, better view.

Captain Kirk

Janice Rand was nothing if not prompt.

Well. Actually, she supposed this depended a little bit on whether 'early' qualified as 'on time'. Possibly being aboard before anyone else except the little-seen maintenance staff was a bad move, but missing the ship would have been infinitely worse, and Janice didn't want to risk so monumental a disaster.

This being the case, she was beamed up and in possession of her room assignment and roster before most people had even checked their messages. And the grin that had broken out on her face when she saw the Captain's note didn't fade for hours.

Paula stepped down off the transporter pad, moving to the side to make way for the next group of people. Once she had received her room assignment and schedule she set out for Sickbay, checking the map occasionally to make sure she was headed in the right direction.

Everything looked shiny and new; the Defiant had been well maintained, of course, but had definitely shown signs of wear. She walked briskly down the corridors, occasionally smiling or saying hello to a familiar face.

It was so...new here. Big. All the technology made Nora's fingers itch to get ahold of it, take it apart and memorize how it worked.

At least she could wear pants - messing around with machinery would be hell in a skirt. Speaking of, she remembered something that she'd talked about with Kirk on Sha'Kwai - namely, her supervisor. Nora quickly composed a message, hoping she didn't seem too pushy.

Captain,

Do you know where Mr. Scott might be found? I'd like to speak to him when he has some time, about my duties on the ship.

Thanks!
Lt. Tovik.
P.S. I can send you some sites on Hebrew lettering if you'd like.

Lt. Tovik,

Engineering. That's easy. Usually tucked up in the Engines. You can always ask the Enterprise where he is. She always knows.

P.S. - Would love them.

Captain Kirk.

It was impossible to miss, for someone who had relied upon his wits for survival for as long as John had, the fact that something had changed. He'd wondered idly why there were so many humans (or so it seemed; appearances could be deceiving, and he tried not to assume anything) on a Vulcan colony. Now, suddenly, all the humans he saw seemed to be anticipating something. Some of them seemed excited, some resigned, some relieved. More tellingly, though, they were all suddenly in uniform.

He stopped a young woman in a blue dress and asked her what was going on. "We're leaving orbit today," she said. "You're not assigned to the Enterprise, then? We're starting our five-year mission." John thought he heard an unspoken finally at the end of that sentence ( ... )

An officer stepped forward as Hart came off the pad, just as an officer was stepping up to each other person. "Rank and name, sir?" It was an older woman who eyed Hart's clothing with what seemed to be a sense of amusement. "Have fun while down on the planet?" In her hands was a PADD, prepared to pull up his necessary information.

"Captain John Hart," he told her cheerfully. "I had a great time, we should visit Sha'kwai more often."

She smiled to him, nodding. "Seems like a good place." She entered in his information, and frowned slightly. "I don't have your name in the system... are you a recent transfer, Captain?" Showing some respect for his title.

She glanced at the terrarium under his arm with some surprise. "Are those live creatures?"
