Bones had waited as long as he could to put on the gear, knowing it would be hot as hell until they reached the ice cube below. "Pierce, right?" Bones asked to the security man assigned to them. If this hadn't been such a dangerous mission, Bones would have growled at Jim that he didn't need the extra body around, but he knew better. This wasn't Jim being overprotective, this was life and death.
Bones turned to M'Kriss. "You got everything you need?" Hopefully her fur would serve her better than the insulated gear they were all wearing.

"According to the information I got, its a mix of humans and Andorians down there. I think the Andorians are better suited to the climate, but this is really cold even for them. But the Terrans..." Bones shook his head as he started in on the outdoor clothing. "It's going to be nightmarish for them - or us, if we get caught in the elements."

He took a breath, looking around at the group almost ready. "If there's a lot of injured, we might get separated." He felt better, knowing she'd had experience with Andorians, his trust in her rising. "Hopefully not, gonna try and stick together, but if we do get separated, you stay with her," he told Lt. Pierce. "Keep her safe."

M'Benga and Rien had been given instructions, in case the colonists or away team members were sent up, and Bones wanted to see how they did in this sort of situation without him around.
"It's getting hot as hell in here," he said, under layers of insulated clothing. He began walking to the pad, maybe the others would follow so they could get started.

Warm.
"Chekov," He addressed first, pulling on the jacket on. "Adjust your tricorder to monitor electromagnetic emissions. Collins, focus on microbial life signs; Doctor McCoy's team will be concerned with survivors. Tovik, you and I will be examining their equipment and machinery."
Spock was finding himself warmer than he had been on the planet. The heating pads pressed right against his palms, the tips of his ears felt hot thanks to the hat, and his toes prodded against the packets stuffed into the toe of the boot. Despite all of this, he expected to be thoroughly chilled once they were actually on the planet.
