But he also knew that the bitter cold was affecting the Vulcan even more than the est of the away team, so as the physician in charge, he was doubly worried for him.
That stuff, it looked wrong somehow. Moving closer to Jim, Bones leaned his head in. "You okay?" he asked, watching Jim's face closely.

He pulled his communicator out and flipped it open. "Spock, can you read me? Spock?" Then, out of no where, there was a bigger feeling. Something almost like fear. "...Spock!"

Their equipment was acting up in this extreme cold, it might be difficult to get anything to work.

It was Spock almost screaming through the bond a single word. Shields. SPOCK! What's going on?! he didn't know if it could even be heard over the agony rippling through, when he couldn't focus enough to 'yell' the words in the direction of the bond.
It felt like Spock was dying.
