He didn't have the best relationships with ice planets, and the idea of going down to this one had him less than pleased

Jim looked to Bones, Hank, and Tyler and gave a quick nod. "We need to check out the other areas. We go carefully." He looked to the others, giving a longer look to Spock, then walked back out the door and towards the buildings in the distance. If anyone was alive, they had to find them.

There was a feeling in the back of Bones head, something he was becoming too accustomed to feeling. Spock Bones could sense the irritation at the cold, an internal bitching that almost made him laugh to imagine, boiling under the surface of that calm exterior.

But he also knew that the bitter cold was affecting the Vulcan even more than the est of the away team, so as the physician in charge, he was doubly worried for him.

That stuff, it looked wrong somehow. Moving closer to Jim, Bones leaned his head in. "You okay?" he asked, watching Jim's face closely.

Jim looked up, blinking at Bones who looked like a bear wrapped up in all that material. "Good as I can be, knowing I'm walking around in someone's tomb. None of this makes sense and I don't like it. Two buildings, both generators completely offline when they should have run for a week, and their backups for at least another week. All this stuff was designed to survive these cold temperatures! Hell, the reports I read said this stuff was brand new, and they ran separately so this exact scenario couldn't happen!"

All of a sudden, this feeling came over him, something with Spock. Something had startled him badly, in a way that he hadn't felt since this whole bond thing started.

He looked up at Jim, confused. "You feel that?"

Jim jerked a little as he felt Spock's surprise, and he looked back at Bones with a confused nod. "Do... what's going on?"

He pulled his communicator out and flipped it open. "Spock, can you read me? Spock?" Then, out of no where, there was a bigger feeling. Something almost like fear. "...Spock!"

Something was really wrong- they both felt it, and the lack of verbal communication coming from Spock only exacerbated the problem. "It's bad," Bones said tightly, feeling a wave of annoyance and apprehension rush through his head. "Shit, he needs help."

He looked up at Jim, confused and upset and worried about Spock, what the hell. "What do we do?"

Whatever it was, it was starting to give him a headache. Literally. Jim put a hand to his head, then looked to Tyler and Hank. "We need to go find him." Jim got up fast, pulling his goggles back over his eyes and heading back up the icy stairs as fast as he could.

Bones was right behind Jim, shoe spikes digging into the ice as they made their way back up the ice-covered stairs. "Is there any way we can locate him without talking to him?" Bones asked, out of breath.

Their equipment was acting up in this extreme cold, it might be difficult to get anything to work.

Hank and Tyler exchanged a long look between them. Everything they'd learned in classes seemed to be true. "Sirs! Please let one of us proceed ahead of you!"

Hank sped up to get ahead of Jim. "Please let one of be in front of you, especially if we're headed into danger. You're irreplaceable."

"So are you, I just get a fancier title," Jim called back, not letting up in his speed. He looked back to Bones, then nodded. "We gotta figure out how to use.. you know what. Find him like that. There's gotta be a way!"

"Yeah, maybe, one we get somewhere we can focus..." Bones could feel it but it was overwhelming right now, too much DANGER DANGER coming off of him. Made Bones feel like someone was chasing him.

The security guys were keeping up with them, but Jim was moving fast. Making their way upstairs, they headed toward the door and the ice.

Hank finally made it out ahead of Jim, keeping his dirty look internal. "Sir, you just let us do our job please? He pulled his phaser out. "Phasers at ready please."

They didn't have a chance. Something swept down across the group like a tidal wave, the wind screaming in their ears and pressing down on them. Razor blades, even through their clothing. It picked up Hank almost ten feet off the ground before it slammed him into the side of the building.

Jim barely heard Hank through the pain in his head. It was making him stagger, reaching for Bones almost instinctively. There was a beeping from his communicator, but it was missed as suddenly the wind picked up and in the echoing, empty lobby made the whole world blank out.

It was Spock almost screaming through the bond a single word. Shields. SPOCK! What's going on?! he didn't know if it could even be heard over the agony rippling through, when he couldn't focus enough to 'yell' the words in the direction of the bond.

It felt like Spock was dying.

Bones grabbed at Jim's arm, their touch solidifying something inside him, steadied him as the cold attacked them, like it was alive. The sensation in his head was overwhelming, the pain terrible. Bones wasn't sure Spock could hear him or not, but he tried anyway.

We're coming. Hold on, we're gonna find you.

Hank staggered woozily to his feet, taking inventory of himself. Felt like he'd gotten kicked but good by a seriously pissed bronco. "What way?"
