Jim was pretty sure it was the direction they should be going in, but he couldn't see anyone else anymore except Bones, and only because he was hanging onto him. The sound ended, making him stagger hard on his feet. He couldn't see anything but white, couldn't hear anything now that the sound was gone except the wind. If Sybok's transport had been screwed up badly enough he appeared above the ground, and his communication with the Enterprise was gone...

They had to find Spock. Had to. He concentrated on that feeling, plowing forward step by step through the thick snow, hoping it was still towards Sybok.

He didn't see the snow thicken right at his side, and something hit him and Bones hard, sending them both flying.

Hank glared at Sybok. "Back. Don't get between me and danger." Fucking hell that pissed him off.

He arched an eyebrow, and then stepped back until he was standing beside the man. "There," He gestured with his free hand. "Now if you get attacked by 'danger,' you won't be knocked into me. Fifty percent chance one of us will get a shot at it."

In the distance, they could hear a faint mewl now, a stark contrast to the grinding stone from a moment before.

"It's my job to be attacked," Hank explained. "That's why I have the red shirt. It's your job to not get attacked." He switches his phaser to kill.

"Now that's casting yourself insignificant," Sybok explained, slowly walking towards the sound; another mewl. Something small. Probably defenseless. "I'm sure you have many other varied tasks you can complete just as well than being fodder for violent alien species."

They both saw it together. It was about as large as a horse, some sort of strange looking creature all in white. It was hard to define, hard to make out the edges because of the glow it came off. Another sound, almost a chittering noise, before it started to back away.

"Let's not follow that," Tyler suggested, starting at the creature. This was a weird as fuck planet and he was spooked.

"Where's your sense of adventure?" Sybok teased over his shoulder, but he was wary of the creature, too. He checked his phaser again before focusing his mind forward: what was it, what did it want, why was it here?
