Kirk nodded to the other two men and then to the man behind the console, "Energize."
He sucked in a breath as he felt his world start to dissolve. There was nothingness--
Then it was hot. Immediately the sweltering heat pressed down on Kirk, bringing a sweat up to his brow. He gave himself a fast check over to make sure he was still all together (did anyone who transported NOT do that?) and then looked around. What he saw made his jaw drop slightly.
It was a desert plain, stretching out as far as the eye could see. The sky was darkened, but according to what information they had on Restin, it shouldn't have been night time. Instead, the sky looked thick and black with storm clouds and lightning jagged between them in a bright blue-green-purple show.
The beautiful lightning show in the clouds was set off by a deep crimson sky that was barely visible through the dark-grey clouds. And in the distance was their target. The city was massive, sprawling out in a miles-wide range. Tall, dark buildings spiraled up into strange twisted shapes that reminded him of an illustration he had seen once. They looked broken and jagged like broken teeth.
The wind was whipping hard against them, hot and dry and smelling rank of smoke and chemicals. Kirk narrowed his eyes against it, thinning his lips.
