In what seems to be a general trend in my experience at Princeton, I seem to be a little bit behind. I need to schedule an appointment with an advisor to schedule classes. Unfortunately, that's presenting a problem

Music class! I'm assuming it doesn't have prereqs? You mentioned "musical literacy," which basically means being able to read music, but the corny title "When Music is Made" makes it seem like a history class rather than a theory class. Anyway just curious, what's the course description? Music is cool!
oops, I mistitled the class. It's actually MUS 103: Introduction to Music
Music 103 is an introduction to Western Art Music (works from 1100 to the present). The course defines the basic elements of music - pitch, rhythm, melody, harmony, and form - and the historically significant styles and genres of composition. Emphasis is placed on the five most important premiere performances in music history. The course also explores the relationship between "high" and "low," "serious" and "popular" music.
Basically, I want to take the class because it's the lowest level music class that Princeton offers. I'm also thinking of it as class that is probably going to be easier than humanistic studies or physics. Hopefully, I'll like it and then take some more introductory or theory courses. I love the freedom of being an AB major and having a year of credit!
Anyway, I decided I should post some course descriptions of what I'm thinking of taking.
Then MUS103 sounds like a good option. Music is 2nd nature to me, so I can't really guess how easy or hard it would be for someone who's learning it for the first time. All I can say is my theory class can sometimes get complicated and hurt my head. :D
Everything hurts my head these days :P . I'm starting low because I don't want to be overwhelmed. The usual course load at Princeton is 4, but I want to take 5 every semester from now on. I also have about a year of credit, so I don't mind slowly learning about things like music.
What classes are you thinking of taking next semester?
